Not as odd as you think. The stuffier a town, the more people want get down. If there is more than 50,000 people in an area you are going to find a hole in the wall, just dont stand in front of it unless your ready for that.

3:30 I did this before, well, what April is doing kind of. I was downstairs at a minor club under a restaurant. I didn't want to see the band, but my gf wanted to so I hung around talking to the guy stamping people's hands. He got called upstairs to deal with something and people started to ask me to do it since no one was around. I started collecting money which I planned to give the guy when he returned, but he never did. Some girl upstairs came down to check on things and I said they were good. She brought me a pitcher of beer and told me the door would close soon so I could take it easy. No one asked me for the money so we left. GF asked me what I did she didn't see me up front near the band. I said "I made 78$ stamping people's hands and they gave me a pitcher of beer to do it."
