Notice the negotiation skill. Rick did not let him establish the range. He knocked the 15K down to 7K immediately and the guy followed. They inched up from there to where Rick wanted to go in the first place. Rick controlled the entire negotiation. The guy should have held his ground and been the one to establish the range where the negotiations will occur.

Publicity, fees, time. A lot of people have came on here with unique items to get them appraised and on national TV and left to sell them on their own. Without that kind of publicity an average person like this is going to have a very hard time getting that $12,000-$18,000 with an item like this. Beyond that you're paying fees for the listings that are more expensive when you're an average joe, and the time it takes is often far too long.

What’s stupid is that people believe that Paul Revere was the only person during the midnight ride, when really there were quite a few people who did it, Revere didn’t even finish the ride, people didn’t even acknowledge him for his ride, it wasn’t till after tons of self promotion that he finally got into the history books.
