According to records on a comic book database site that keeps tracks of recent sales, an unsigned graded 6.0 (Fine) Hulk #1 just went for 28,800 about a month ago and a 6.5 went for 40,000. Typically, Stan Lee signature adds around 20-50% of the value especially for an extremely rare book.

Stan is impeccable with signature placement. He takes his time to pick a place when you meet him. He was stumped with my ASM #100 as it's mostley black and had to settle for Spidey's face.

@@cchavezjr7 personally I wouldn’t be too interested because he can’t get that comic graded by CGC without them putting on the label “Stan Lee written on cover” but I’m sure plenty of other people would be because they could get it authenticated or send it CBCS where they would authenticate it for the buyer. Stan Lee’s signature definitely raises the value though.

When novels are signed by the authors it always raises the value on it. With this in mind, especially being that Stan Lee is the co-creator of The Incredible Hulk, it should only have a positive effect on the value of the book. Personally, I have several key issues in my own personal collection which I had Stan Lee sign. However, I had him sign on the bottom "blank area" of the splash page. In this way, the art & dialogue weren't written upon. I've always felt that this was a better course of action. Still, even though Stan signed his name on the cover, I still feel it only enhances the book's collectability and value.

Stan Lee's signature is underappreciated now because he's alive and he's been a machine signing thousands of comics for many years. Wait 50-100 years until it becomes rare and hard to track down like a signed Babe Ruth baseball

My dad threw out my comic book collection when I moved out of the house. I had intended to come back for them in a couple days. Too bad they had already picked up the garbage. To put it bluntly, I had the first 10 of every Marvel superhero comic except the Fantastic Four which started at #5 (Doc Doom and his time machine).

He would reinvest the money into other comic books..... so he’s a collector. And he found them in a garage? Coincidence or fake story?
@comiccrazy3
@comiccrazy3 5 жыл бұрын
Fake story. Embarrassed to be selling them "as his own", hoping for the "dumb luck" atta-boys and admiration from the Buyer, people in the store and the attention received by a comic expert. Cheap. Dude knew EXACTLY what they were worth. Maybe a 1% chance he really DID find them. Original owner dies, loot recovered, no one (?) knew about. Mmm, im not buying the story.

The fact that he held firm on 40k like he needed to get a certain amount of money out of it also makes me doubt his "found it in a basement" story. Mix that with what he said about reinvesting the money in *more* comics if he got the money, yea, it sounds like he's really a collector who buys and sells.
