@douglaswilliams68345 жыл бұрын
Howard Ende Since you don't seem to understand the way things work on Pawn Stars, I'm going to help you out. The seller had almost no intention of selling this coin to Rick. He agreed to appear on the show with this coin mainly to get the exposure, and Rick agreed to have him on the show, knowing for an almost certainty that the seller would not accept his lowball offer. The seller then gets the exposure of a very popular TV show with his very valuable coin and later sells it for way over $50k. 99.9% of pawn shops would not be able to make a reasonable offer on that coin.

@@TheToribash99 ooh, that's some lateral thinking right there. Except he's had it for maybe 15 years. So did he pay 70k for it originally, or less? In which case he's throwing more away due to interest, either from just investing the money, putting it in a bank, possibly even taking out a loan to pay for it. Or then there's the chance he would have buried the money in his garden and due to inflation he's losing the equivalent of 20k corrected. Then there's the option it was a gift, or payment for a gambling debt, meaning he doesnt actually know the value when it came into his possession. No, this one more convoluted, he's an international jewellery thief, snagged this in his haul. It's not his usual game, so he sat on it for a while to cool off, and here we are. The current pcgs market guide is 70k. One sold a few years ago for 72k similiar. They have been trending down since. In auction he maybe clears 50k. Reason. 20 per cent buyers now. This time I think that the customer played Rick, he knew exactly what he had and exactly what he wanted, he wanted some exposure for his coin, he was never going to sell he knew exactly how a pawn shop works, he went there for authentication even though he already knew exactly what he had in his possession. I do hope that it is not true that he only got 45K later in a auction because I think that would have been robbery.
