Being a person who literally had hand to hand combat with a big bull (spearing), I say harvest away. BUT, shark fin soup is really hard to make well, so great job…also, try drying the fins first before you make the soup…

hey mate, in Australia the baby bulls are in most of the north Qld creeks, they are everywhere and here they kill catfish and all the game fish here. they are everywhere. they have killed so many dogs and all the flatheads and bass. but they are super cool and we arent allowed to kill them.

It seems like management could establish a small commercial fishery for sharks to at least assuage the complaints a bit. Like if you can catch them recreationally obviously the number that can be sustainably harvested each year is more than zero.

Sharks are terrible here in NC too Adam. Makes it real hard, not only on the beach but just as bad offshore. You can get one snapper or grouper out of five. Love your content.
@goldstonk320610 ай бұрын
ive had very bad experiences here in nc with sharks on piers. Most piers don't let you target sharks so you just have to let your fish get sharked. Real bad experience.

Sharks do keep the ecosystem in order IF they, as well at the other species had time to reach a balance(basic predator-prey relations, but humans brought it out of whack several times) and also there has to be enough of the really big sharks controlling the amount of smaller ones. also lots of Florida isn't a natural environment, bull sharks have a huge network of channels to live and thrive in where, aside from bigger bulls, none of their predators like big hammers and tigers can really reach them cause they need pure saltwater. also a big issue is that the prey species are already being fished, which would normally be the job of the sharks. if there were no people, or at least not a significant amount it would need sharks to control the populations, at the moment in Florida it only really "needs" enough to pick out the weak, wounded and dead sharks. one important distinction is between sedentary/local sharks and migritory(especially trans oceanic) species, the local ones will have very strong populations in controlled waters like Florida, the migratory ones, especially great whites,, but also makos, hammers and tigers who venture into waters where they're mercylessly hunted do need some extra protection cause we're talkin' about one to a handful of global populations, so even what your doing would be sustainable, it isn't cause the popuation is already weakened. Bull sharks which are a local species have a huge population in florida so feel free to harvest them, same goes for any plentiful local population. PS: another problem with migratory species is that they can seem abundant in an area even if the population is near extinction just cause a large fraction of the whole atlantic population comes together and there are fish everywhere doesn't mean they aren't highly vunerable.

Love how someone got pissed at me on TikTok because he showed a vid off dude killing a lot a carp out of creek no wider that 10 foot lol and 15-50 carp and about 45 dead or so but obviously it was over populated and effecting the rest of the ecosystem probably then it sits on the band dead it’s good good for the other ecosystem outside of the water 😂
