A service sector consumer economy that doesnt produce anything that exchanges its paper for actual goods coming from abroad. The US economy has only stood for 30 years because of near 0 interest rates which have allowed thr government to further increase spending and service its debt. With natural interest rates, even during the trump administration, the govt would be forced to default on its debt obligations.

Historically, once inflation has gotten above 5% it has never come back down without the Fed funds rate being raised above the CPI. We're either going to live through an exception, or we're going to see some of the highest interest rates in more than 3 decades. Great tips near the end, I totally agree!

Of course, who could possibly argue that the FED can fight inflation with negative real rates? Its a fantasy and most mainstream investors seem to be falling for this. All of the Malinvestments and Excess liquidity of the past 20 years of cheap money need to be unwinded, meaning that a soft landing is out of the table. A deppression is innevitable if the FED follows through with their inflation fight, if not, expect even higher inflation and consequently weak economic performance. One major factor was left out is that we are seeing global inflation . I saw it in the news that most countries are all competing for parts , products , food, OIL etc. Even nations that managed their rates better are seeing major issues . The glut of money was an issue sure, but the surging demand from nation that re-opened from covid lockdowns played a larger role . Add to this pandemic-related staffing issues and the intentional global oil supply problems and its a nightmare . I could have had a I don’t want to empty toilet paper in restrooms for two lousy weeks, but I needed the money. Just had a company meeting and it's a retail sector job, two different people asked if it's possible to take a loan out against their 401k's. Inflation is out of control wiping everyone out, not sure how they can say that families are more financially stable when you got people wanting to take loans out on their retirements because they cant afford their bills. We are in a recession and going into a depression Q4 2022 or Q1 2023.

By the way the dollar tree is no longer everything a dollar. It’s now everything is $1.25. Which, btw, is a 25% increase in price - inflation is average approx. 10% - hmmm? Such a scam and people will go there to buy canned food and other such items that are actually about $.80 in a regular grocery store like Kroger, but since it’s called a dollar tree they figure they’re getting a deal. That’s how they make their money...be careful what you buy!

@@mattgaetz6792 Going from a rate of 1-2% to 9% (likely even higher than that if the statistics weren’t massaged) in the matter of 25 months is getting pretty close to exponential. 2 years is not very long at all. Steps are being taken to dampen the rise in the rate of inflation, but just like was brought up in this video the outrageous rate of government spending limits the effect of the rate hikes. A combination of rate hikes as well as taking the credit card away from congress is needed, otherwise after two more years of this hyperinflation will be the new talking point instead of a rate hike induced recession.
