I have a Hayward above ground pool and the lid is absolutely impossible to open even though mine was replaced this year with an new O- ring, was also lubed. I’m going to try this tool, I’ve replaced this strainer lid more than once 😳! My pool was here when I moved here. Is there any other type of strainer lid that will fit this strainer basket?? This pool part I’ve replaced several times (strainer lid and gasket) is SPX1500D2A. I’m so happy I found this site, thanks for the help. I was beginning to think I was the only one with this issue. I’m going to order the tool and hope it helps.. thanks!

I am not sure if they have a different lid that will work with that model. I would recommend calling your local pool store to to double check. Glad I could be of help.

Thanks for the video and link. I've struggled with Getting mine back on for a couple years now. It wasn't so hard for the first few years. Anyway, I'm subscribed and ordering the tool today.

I have a similar setup, but getting the lid off is not the issue. It is tough, but not impossible. It is putting it back on that makes me want to break things. Something about the way it seats and trying to get the rails of the lid to get down under the rails of the basket area and then turn to slide into place. Any tips for that? Any lubricants that your would recommend?

The main issue I have ran into is the pump basket not seated properly. Make sure it’s as far down as it can go or it will stop/make it hard for the lid to go back on. Lube Tube is the best for o-rings and lids like pump basket lids and chlorinator lids. Hope this helps.

I have issues with getting it off and then eventually getting it back on! I hope this was a flaw on these strainer baskets and hopefully they’ve improved these! This is a horrible problem. Especially if you live alone and don’t have the strength to do either. Mine was replaced this year (again) by a pool company and lubed and it’s stuck again! I’m hoping that everyone has better luck with this issue than me!!

I have the same issue glad to see im not the only one. Getting it off is no problem....its the getting it back on. I have to use all my humanly strength and go into what my child calls "hulk mode" to get it back on. I guess I'll try one of these.

We have a filter on our pool and we replace the lid but it hard to tighten or loosen the lid should we lubricant the o-ring on the lid ?
@ClearlySeen2 жыл бұрын
You can get some lubricant from your local pool store to add to the lid and that will help for the future when you open it.

How do u keep the water from gushing out?
@ClearlySeen2 жыл бұрын
If the water is coming out ofonce you take the lid off you’re going to want to shut the skimmer valves and the main drain valves

Is there a way to get one off without the tool that is stuck ?
@ClearlySeen4 жыл бұрын
If it’s on there to tight to remove with your hands the best safest way is to have a tool like the one in the video. I have seen people use a pipe wrench with certain kinds of lids but it could crack it.

@@ClearlySeen it will not budge. I ordered a new one. How should I.break the old one off.
@ClearlySeen4 жыл бұрын
Have you tried using a rubber mallet? I have had success with those also. Just hitting one of the corners going counter clockwise? Last time I used one it took a few minutes to break it free. Definitely make sure the pool is off when trying. I have never broken one off and I can’t recommend it.

@@ClearlySeen a friend had a pool tool and I've tried a mallet and on and off. Even without the drain plug and everything open. I don't know what to do?

I recommend you call your local pool store to see what they recommend. They may have another way or tool other then what I have mentioned so far.
