Can't wait for camper van make it home, I saw earlier about it by another cozy youtuber and give them my email to send me updates about how the game is going, hope it will come soon but I think I have wait a little longer. And fashion dreamer sounds amezing, it's sad thet didn'y put the thing of running a shop into the game, that what makes me thinking to wait and watch some gameplay's to have a better idea of what the game would look like and of I like it and wanne buy it. Thanks for the video, hope you will stream fashion dreamer when it comes out on switch next mounth. Have a nice weekend and thanks for the video!! ❤🦥

as someone who's been playing cozy games since their childhood (~20 years) i am so glad we are getting more non farming cozy games! don't get me wrong, animal crossing was always my favorite game and i also enjoyed harvest moon a lot but i also absolutely loved dress up games, games where you had to look after babies/pets, management games, hidden object games and puzzle games. i am so so happy that cozy games got this big in the last 3 years and i can't wait to play more games like the ones from my childhood ❤

so i get that this video seems to focus on SUPER recent games, but one i definitely feel fits this category is Unpacking, which came out a couple years ago (so personally i'd still call it recent lol). it's a very relaxing game, and isn't super difficult, but the STORY is why i love it so much. it's somewhere around puzzle meets decorator, but not really the traditional sense of either, i'm not sure what they officially call it... but with very minimal text it tells the story of this character's life and the way it changes over 20 some years through the act of unpacking their belongings each time they move, and it has genuine twists i never saw coming. super cute, super touching, and just a beautiful form of storytelling. definitely cozy. it had me hooked and i played the whole thing through in one setting. if they ever release sequels or DLC even of a totally different character with the same form of storytelling, i'd play it immediately.

Okay, depends on if you consider gardening to be "farming" but one that just came out at the end of September that I am loving is Wildmender. The title gives the premise, you're trying to restore the flora of the world. They give you huge customization options with difficulty settings so you can make it as easy or difficult as you want. It scratches differently than a farming sim since you're more like a landscaper than a farmer. Your "garden" can self seed and actually start getting a bit overgrown if you let it. I really enjoy exploring and just taking my time with it. I would describe it more as a natural decoration game with some magic. It's available for PC (not Mac), Xbox, and PS. Unfortunately not going to be available for Switch.

I feel like Gris is missing from this list. Loved that game. As well as the First Tree. Two other games that show cozy games aren't necessarily meant for kids. Gris is just so gorgeous. The story it tells is so well done IMO. And all without a single word (the character lost her voice and is dealing with grief because of it). The First Tree is also pretty heavy at times in the grief department, but the story is so touching and the world is gorgeous. Both are on the easier end of platformer games and Gris also has puzzles. And I think in a way rhythm games can be cozy too. I really enjoyed Melatonin (there's a flashwarning in it though and one of the levels triggered migraines while I played on pc, no issues on Steamdeck). I also like Figment and Figment 2: Creed Valley. The second definitely has more story in it. For point and click: A Building Full of Cats and a Castle Full of Cats. Really cute games that aren't very long. Not to mention I loved A Little to the Left, Terra Nil, and Strange Horticulture. Also Dorfromantik and Pan'orama I have played more games that aren't farming sims than I have played farming sims. I'm only now playing my first one, which is Roots of Pacha. I don't count Littlewood because you just have to plant stuff and harvest it and for animal care it's only giving food when the animals ask. There's no way to mess it up or loose crops. You don't even have to grow the crops yourself. And I still don't get why people call Potion Permit a farming sim sometimes. If an automatic grow box qualifies as farming and it only becomes available after you did specific things it's not a farming sim. Still love it though.
@ammalyrical5646 Жыл бұрын
I tend just follow my feelings on this though. I have some games left that don't include farming (like Heaven's Vault, which is a language puzzle game). I also include a complex sudoku at times. Complex as in: the stuff they show on the YT channel Cracking the Cryptic. I just don't really have time to do many of the puzzles or watch many of their feature length puzzle solves anymore. But those videos sure ar cozy too and it's fun to improve your logical reasoning. They give very clear explanations for their process. I still need to play more Wytchwood and The Wild at Heart to form opinions. Can't wait for: Boxes: lost fragments (sequel to Doors: Paradox, which is a 3D cozy puzzle game where a cat tells the story. Loved that too). A Highland Song (kind of a platformer I think will feel like Gris and The First Tree, but with a different storyline and music based). Songs of Glimmerwick (It seems to have no farming, but I'm not sure. I just like the music element) Potion Tycoon (a management style game where you sell potions. It's in early access now but I'm not feeling buying it in early access). I also didn't really game for a long time and I think the most nostalgic gaming experience I have is sharing a Crash Bandicoot game with my brother and sister on my brother's xbox. I played some Go: Supermodel. That was also an online multiplayer with dress up minigames and even a place where you could design clothes pixel by pixel. The site hasn't existed for years, but it was fun back then). I sometimes played GTA when I was 9 or 10 just so I could create a car chase and have the police do things. I had no clue what to actually do in the game though. I couldn't read English for the life of me and I also didn't really get the whole quest part in games either. I didn't actually game much. I just did whatever I wanted (except this one game I used to learn how to type, which was actually cozy now that I think about it). This made every game cozy or nostalgic (nobody can make the stressful parts of Crash Bandicoot cozy, but my brother's small attic bedroom sure was cozy).

so many times I see people recommend games with a cute style and stressful gameplay (something like a rythm or fast paced action game with adorable aesthetics, or even farming sims can feel stressful at first because of the time per day limit). I think we should expand the list more to have things that have chill gameplay but might not have as cute aesthetics. My recommendation is Snowrunners. I havent played the its predecessor mudrunners, but you don't need to to play snow runners. it barely has a story and has TONS of content and even more DLC. (also haven't played spintires. spintires came first and then the publisher wasn't paying the devs so they had a split and basically remade the game with the assets they had and made improvements and called it mudrunners). I know it might look like some kinda generic guy truck driving game. I hate cars and trucks and have no interest in them generally, but I find this game very fun and relaxing. The maps are not super gigantic like in something like truck sim or whatever, cus half the time you're maybe driving 2 MPH. its small towns that have lots of mud or snow and need your help hauling stuff to fix broken bridges and the like. since the maps are smaller they can be more detailed and its really pretty. some areas have the prettiest fall and winter aesthetics (but theres definitely some spring and summer areas too). you get stuck in the mud and have to wiggle and winch onto things like trees, guardrails, streetlamps, even your own other trucks to get out of the mud and snow. you can even tip over and have to try to upright yourself with a crane or whatever. Its not as stressful as it sounds as theres no penalties for anything. gassing up is free and if you run out you can just bring some and siphon it off to another truck. theres no cost penalties and you only use money to buy new trucks and upgrades. If you feel like you're too stuck or tipped over you can just reset a specific truck at one of the garages you've unlocked. Also its coop! you can haul your friends out of the mud or river. or get stuck in it with them. You're never moving fast so its never stressful. Theres also an element of exploration as at first the missions and locations aren't apparent and you have to go over to watchtowers in the area to unlock them so you take the lighter "scout" trucks to get to there and see what kinda hauling truck you'll need for what job and where to unlock new garages to spawn at. it starts off in michigan and after the tutorial there you can go to any of the other areas across the globe and each area has several map locations in it. The devs are russian and I'm pretty sure that mudrunners only took place in Russia, but snowrunners has several locations in north america such as michigan, canada, and a couple other states like alaska ( and I think south dakota and wyoming? can't remember). you use american/canadian trucks on those maps and russian trucks in the russian maps. my gf hates all things trucks and during lockdown whenever she was sick or had a headache she would ask me to play that so she could fall asleep to it cus she found the sights so relaxing (and theres not a lot of loud sounds or anything. theres a radio that plays local folk/country songs or just the revving of a low truck engine or winch). I suggest you give it a try even if you don't like truck stuff or you think its just a dumb guy thing. The Michigan maps have some of the prettiest fall foliage i've seen in a game and you really get time to look at them cus you're not driving fast or running from place to place or in combat. just stuck in the mud trying to pull yourself through a washed out dirt trail in the country. I live in Phoenix and really miss being able to see fall foliage and its really nice playing this in the fall (or winter for snow) and get some sense of enjoyment.

Thank you for this!!!! I'm fairly new to cozy gaming, I used to do strictly puzzle games (like Tetris, Candy Crush, Bejeweled, and Bubble Witch). I loved Restaurant City before they closed it down (haven't found another that compares -- the Papa's games are fun.) I only started to try other things (like Splatoon and Link's Awakening -- both of which I love) just this year. I HATE farming games and Animal Crossing and I don't like the art style of the other Zelda/Link games or 8 bit. I did a Pikmin 4 sample and it's SO cute but seems like it's made for a much younger crowd, like little children. I just want something more adventurous and super cute (read kawaii, chibi, pastel or bright cheery colors, etc.) and no stress cozy. The only thing I could find recently that got me excited is Mineko's Night Market (full disclosure there is a tiny bit of farming -- harvesting cat fur balls and growing a few flowers) but mostly NOT a farming sim. I'd love it if you could do another one of these type of videos but give us the greatest hits of NON-FARMING cozy games of all time (not just this year). The Hannah and Tiny Book Shop ones look fun but the art style is not my jam, so I know I won't end up getting them. Does anybody reading this comment have any recommendations based on my very picky, newbie perspective? Thanks for looking out for us non-farming sim folks!

Just wondering... if you like Tetris, did you play Tetris Effect: Connected? If not, I recommend it to *everyone*, honestly. It's that good. They finally gave Tetris a music-based game, and it's a beautiful explosion of colors and sound. Maybe not "zero stress," but I really never minded re-trying stages. There was always some new bit of animation or sound design to notice.

My fiance got me a Nintendo Switch for Christmas and I am finally ready to play after pulling myself out of depression. I am charging Widgy(yes, I named my switch) and I am excited to play Hannah, sounds a bit like the life I am living, lol 😁
