Russell and the Peters family were our next door neighbours in the 70s. My little brother was best friends with Russell’s brother Clayton (who is now Russell’s manager as well). We all reconnected several years ago, and I can unequivocally state that Russell and his brother are two of the most humble, kind, and generous people I have ever known. The world deserves to know this…you can still be rich and famous without losing touch with your roots, or being an egomaniac. Good on you Russell for staying true to yourself, and also for the laughs.

Well kudos to you and your fam for treating the peters well. Cuz he talks a lot in other interviews about how racist the 70s and 80s were growing up in the GTA. He even has mentioned one of his neighbors in the 70s spraying water on him while walking home from school. The neighbor was a white adult male, and kept calling Russell racial slurs every time he walked by-Russell said he didn’t understand the slurs or the act of spraying water on him until he got older. Seems Brampton, ON was extremely racist to browns back in the 70s. Glad your family wasn’t one of ‘em!

Trump has to win!
@SunilFrancisGeorge4 ай бұрын
That's a powerful perspective from Russell Peters, and I can understand why legal immigrants would have concerns about the issue of illegal immigration and open borders. 🤔 The arduous process of obtaining legal residency or citizenship often involves years of effort, documentation, and resources, so it can be frustrating to see people enter the country illegally and potentially receive similar benefits without going through that process. It’s important to maintain a balance between being compassionate towards those seeking a better life, while also ensuring the fairness and sustainability of immigration policies.

Yesssss! I agree. It was funny and he was on point with a really legit topic. The international crimes being committed between India and Canada. It was really interesting.

01:54:03 for anyone wondering the song is from 1955 Raj Kapoor and Nargis Dutt's World Famous movie in those times "Shree 420" the song is "ichak dana bichak dana" :- by Lata Mangeshkar (Bharat Ratna Awardee,Nightingale of India) (sadly she died 2 years ago and there was a 2 day national mourning for her )

Russel Peters was one of the first comics I ever experienced. Grew up in a city that was 30/40% Indian. The first big generational mix. We didn’t realize in the time but it was one of the best things we could experience. We were young enough to not had been taught hate. So our experience was beautiful and became deep love. Sleep overs and shit, hilarious differences with our families. Indian dads usualy could only speak Punjabi but when they would give us shit. 🤣. We new what they were saying. This brought me back and it’s wild to think how ppl are divided. Russel peters first special was fricken epic. Probably 20-30 times we watched that. My boys and I planned bbqs even around rewatching. Damn. What a beautiful memory.

I have seen Russel Peters perform live in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He was impromptu and made jokes on the fly. Interacted with audience and kept on bringing jokes one after another. Trivia - the song which Patric referred to at 1:54:00 is Ichak Dana Pichak Dana…. A very old Indian song. Indian music has always been popular in South Asia and East Europe.
