I am doing a full 100% play-through myself as you upload these, I found out how to get the star in a cage myself, you must hit an invisibility cap on the right of the location of the red coin star while the level of water is as low as possible, then you need to run through the town while stopping to hit that switch (should be easy on co-op) then running to the cage. the switch creates a block that allows you to reach the first platform on a stairway inside the cage that takes you to the star.

As a kid, the secret village was like a myth to me. I didn't know how to get there, but I had a vague recollection of being there. For a few years until I played again I thought I'd dreamed it up or something. Also, the reason Luigi teleported backwards in the tunnel is because a loading zone is there.

Am I the only one who was genuinely creeped out by the Wet Dry World secret village? All those houses and you can't enter a single one. There's no one around, and the music is so creepy that plays. As a kid I always imagined the doors were basically rusted shut from being underwater for centuries. Not just the atmosphere, but I could picture the dead corpses of the villagers floating in the water inside each house as you raise and lower the water. No joke, I swore I could hear the drowning sound effect Mario makes every time I raised the water again. (This sounds like Creepypasta stuff, but I swear this level traumatized me as a kid.)
