I disagree with these so called bull riders today wearing these football helmets. Bull riders of the past never wore them. Seems like they afraid to get hurt. I’ve been kicked in the head by a bull being I breed & raise cattle but this is getting ridiculous

I agree to an extent. I dont wear one personally But theres some cases where id wear one for the safety of being able to continue doing my job without injury. Alot of these young "bull riders" only ride to show off and wear there gear in the beer tent

The reason we wear them now is so we dont smash our faces in like tuff heademen but i have respect for the guys that dont wear a helment. And it hockey helments or actual bull riding helments like a 100x helment or a 2 tough helment with titainium face mask

I made my living as a professional bareback bronc rider but I also rode bulls for about ten years when I was younger. When I started, my mom made me wear a helmet and I thank God every day that she did because I would be 100% dead if she hadn't. I had a bull step directly on my face and if the helmet hadn't absorbed the blow, it would have crushed my skull. I got away with only a broken nose and a banged up face. That's why these guys wear helmets. It has nothing to do with "fear". There are things that are out of your control and no matter how good or brave you are, something can still happen. Just look at Lane Frost, Brent Thurman, Glen Keeley etc. They all died in the arena and most of them from injuries that could have been prevented if they were wearing a vest or a helmet. They were also some of the best in the world and definitely weren't afraid of bulls
