Probably my favorite pre-32 bit cart version of the original. All things considered, plays fine. Just be sure to turn on turbo fire.

A unique feel from the others. Possibly better than Space Harrier 2 Megadrive. I already got me some checkered board floors, hook it up wit lines.

It always amused me how you're supposed to be the good guy, sent out to rescue these worlds from the baddies, but your way of doing this involves blowing copious amounts of harmless flora and fauna.

this the only way to play Space Harrier at Home back in the 1988 in Japan and 1990 in the US if you owned a PC Engine/Turbografx 16... Well I emulate them on the mobile version of RetroArch Plus because why not?

2nd best home console version of this game, right behind the 32X and Saturn versions, but easily surpasses the Master System version.

I really like the GBA SEGA Arcade Gallery version of it. It's very well done, and moves fast and furious. Plus, it's portable.

+Retro Gaming Guitarist The X68000 version says hello ;) (even tho it has the same HUGE fail as the PC Engine version : no checkered-looking floor :/ cmon this is one of the main visual features of Space Harrier... (btw both ports done by Dempa))
@ryzmaker117 жыл бұрын
+Retro Gaming Guitarist The 32X and Saturn ports are two different versions so this already leaves the PC Engine 3rd but then there are the X68000 and GBA ports which are also better so the PC Engine version is 6th best home version and this is without counting others better versions such as the one in Shenmue, 3D Space Harrier for the 3DS or the emulation that can be found in various compilations (on PS2, Xbox 360...).
@Dangerous20996 жыл бұрын
If it were behind the Saturn and 32x versions that would make it second best port not third. Also- the Dreamcast version (Shenmue) is better, so is the Xbox version (Shenmue II) and the PS4 version is also better (Yakuza games)..... So at the absolute best, the PC Engine version of Space Harrier is the 6th best home version...

The genesis did get space Harrier, but it was called space Harrier II which was supposed to be "better than the arcade" not gonna lie. It's a good game
@TheAxelay4 жыл бұрын
The Sega Genesis finally did an authentic Space Harrier via the SEGA 32X add on way back in 1994!!! And it's an extremely close version to the arcade original as well. Space Harrier II while a great game is no rendition of the arcade original but more of its own thing that's more story-based this time.

This is not Space Harrier without checkered-looking floor... :/ Other than that, the game runs smoothly but it's due to it being weak technically: low resolution with added black bar for the top HUD, no parallax, no shadow for flying sprites and, again, no checkered floor. And audio wise the voices are horrible. Average port but still quite enjoyable because it's an average port of a legendary game ;)
