I never understood all the hate this game got. Yeah, the grunt enemies are repetitious and the AI is very easy to deal with, but the stage design, music, and visuals are pretty damn good. I like how you can recruit fallen bosses; that's sweet. Plus, the tunes are catchy. I like Ane-san, and I'm glad I own it.

A video game featuring female street gang members beating up other female gang members just to conquer new turf, set to a pseudo-rockabilly soundtrack. Only in Japan.

The title means "Big Sister". I like the unique designs and music in this game. It's too bad that it's all style and no substance.

This game is amazing. I absolutely adore it. Top 15 game for me. No other game has such abandon and style like this one. No other game encapsulates the bosozoku subculture as Ane San does. Fantastic.

The actual beat 'em up itself isn't all that bad. It's just the way the characters, including the goons, as well as the music, are what makes this beat 'em up weird, lol.

@bquinn58913 ай бұрын
As far as I can tell, this is one of only 2 belt-scrolling beat 'em ups that were exclusive to the PC Engine, along with Riot Zone. The rest of the (still pretty sparse) beat 'em ups were either ports or straight side-scrollers with no movement along the Z axis, or both in the case of games like Altered Beast or The Ninja Warriors. I find this fascinating as both the Megadrive and the SNES/SFC had upwards of 30 or more belt-scrollers each, while there were nearly a couple hundred to be found in the arcade. Even the Gameboy had more exclusive belt-scrollers than the PCE. The console was a treasure trove of shmups but a desert for brawlers.

By the way I am not trying to dis the PC Engine, I love all retro gaming machines as I am a collector, 8-bit / 16-bit will always be my favourite compared to Xbox and PS3 etc. Most early Amiga games were Atari ST ports, such as Outrun etc which could easily been alot better on the Amiga as it is more than capable, the Atari ST made many Amiga games look crap. The audio alone for Atari ST is embarrassing, even NES is better in that department.

good gaming by NPI! the premise of this is actually cool: gangs of female juvenile delinquents battling and assimilating the beaten gangs into their own, a premise later implemented by Capcom's BeatDown. but like BD, it fails badly due to choppy animation & wonky controls. on the plus side, that cameo in the mag by Adon & Samson from Cho Aniki @ 9:55 made my day...tho that's not saying much!
@nate5679877 жыл бұрын
music is by the guy who did the cho aniki games so yea

What is this game's backstory?
@1985dossantos Жыл бұрын
@@devonwilliams5738 Ai, Chika, and Makoto have long been friends; as children they were ruthlessly bullied by other girls until one day a strong and cool girl gang boss named Yuko beat their bullies senseless and taught them how to stand up for themselves. Since then, they have followed in her footsteps. However, after a recent gang war, Yuko has gone missing! Our heroines set out to find out what happened and establish their gang, "Eden", in other territories.

Just to add to that list, there's also the fact that you fight mere palette swaps of the exact same enemy for the entire game until you get to the bosses, who can usually be beaten in a single combo. Maybe if I knew what was going on I'd find it more interesting.

Anything can happen in the 80's.
@STFU7689 жыл бұрын
+Linkonpark100 this game was made when female bosozoku where becoming more popular and more gangs were showing up. When bosozoku started in the 70s girls were either seen as mascots for the gang or they were groupies. calling them "yankii" would mean they have no gang affiliation meaning they're just lone delinquents. Gang and turf fights were very common, those who fought the most and gained the most territory would become notorious and have more control over illegal business (drugs, illegal items ect.) but eventually in the late 80s female bosozoku gangs were declining being that they were easy targets compared to the growing male bosozoku gangs. The fate of most of the female members is they would be forced to join the gang that conquered them or raped and forced into prostitution, very few female bososoku got out of the lifestyle scott free
