Very true - although you're not seeing it here. Although he's got all the mods and he *has* fully upgraded maneuvering and thrust, he hasn't fitted a real offensive load-out to the Vindy yet (remains to be seen if he does in pt. 3). Stack 3x hellbores up front and 1x in back, three of the auto-targeting mods, and as many shiva furnaces as you can fit while leaving three slots for crew and fuel - and then full hangars of Utwig Juggers mainly for additional crew storage. You want to see a fleet's worth of firepower, that'll give it to you!

@Dave Liao, yep, no question about it. With auto-targeting added, one salvo was enough for any small ship - to the point where you didn't have to even move, sometimes - and a couple would easily deal with any Ur-Quan or Kohr-Ah dreadnought. Once I had the Vindy stacked like that, I never played an allied ship again. It was glorious combat!

There's no point to sell you own crew members to the Druuge as slaves. Commander Hayes will be disappointed and upset at you when you return to the Starbase. Otherwise the price of crew members will be increased when you lost more than one thousand. I always prefer to trade one of three Mycon egg cases or one of two available casters (Burvix and Umgah casters) to the Druuge in exchange with Rosy Sphere, trading another one Mycon egg will give you a single Druuge Mauler into your fleet. So you should use this method rather than selling your own crew members.

Are the Kohr-Ah intended to win the Doctrinal Conflict by plot? Because they've wiped out quite a few races before I was able to progress much.

Yes. The most you can do is delay their victory over the Kzer-Za by a year by allying with the right races. The Kzer-Za can never win the Doctrinal Conflict as they are in the game. The Shofixti took care of that.

Eventually, if you let the game drag on for several years, the Kor-Ah WILL win that fight, and begin exterminating every race from the galaxy. They do this by moving their sphere of influence over top of them and reducing them to zero. The race is effectively removed from the game, worlds are razed and ships/interactions with that race are forever impossible. - They will even do this to the Orz! (Look online if you want to know more about why that's such an odd, or difficult thing) If you can get the Supox & Utwig to fight the Kor-Ah, it will buy you a few more years of time. This is helpful if you're playing the game without any guides and need more time to solve the puzzle. (I couldn't figure it out as a child) They end up exterminating all other races, except for the Yehat & Pkunk I think, and then head for Earth. If they get there, the game is over. So it's another way to lose the game, along with losing your Flagship or a few conversational RPG encounters.

Yeah, you can trade various items to the Druuge to avoid slavery, including the two extra Mycon eggshells and one of the two available casters. It has no impact on the game, though, other than making you feel better about yourself. (And if you go through too many crew members, the price goes up until you get the Shofixti.)

@DarkArtistKaiser The Vindicator is bad ass once you get everything on it! When I play the game, I take that into battle, screw the smaller cruisers.

You COULD sell the Mycon eggs to the Druuge instead of putting some of your crew members into slavery.

I have not finished this game, but I remember that you can exchange Mycon eggs with Druuge, instead of selling him members of your crew as slaves. Maybe this causes small changes to the game history...

Unless you sell more than 100 crew to the Druuge, there is no mechanical difference.

Selling crew for the thing really? You could've easily acquired the egg shells instead. This is a very lame playthrough.
