This video illustrates some very interesting and important points, the idea of restricting the size of the hive to avoid discouraging the bees, the possibility of utilizing a super on top of the Kenyan hive, A simple restriction gate at the entrance. I feel like I really learned something. Very well done.

From what I've read, African bees (I assume that's what type of bees are in their area) prefer less space than European bees. So that may make a difference if one knows what type of bee it is. Rough estimates are that European bees like a volume of approx 40 liters (10-11 gallon) whereas African bees are happy with half that. I am not a beekeeper yet, so take my words with a grain of salt.

They apparently don't use a divider hence the smaller hive. I suppose you can do splits any time there.

Isn´t the reason of a Keyan Hive an easier and friendly treatment of the bees? So, putting a supper on the top, you are loosing that way of beekeping...

1--The clay pot hives are shown at the end of the video but don't seem to be durable enough or big enough for a sustainable beekeeping operation 2--Proofreading the captioning will increase the video being seen by more people across the globe as one is unfamiliar with the pronunciation or diction of the speakers. 3--Instead of using the corrugated metal sheet for the roof in one of the hive designs, wouldn't a terracotta or baked clay roof be better, considering the heat coming via the sun during the day. Also the terracotta or earthenware roof could wick away the excess moisture formed in the hive and its condensation. Excess moisture invites fungal diseases plus terracotta or baked clay is porous and can aid in the natural ventilation of the hive. 4--Ants and other predators need to be guarded against in africa. These preliminary designs would need some thought about pest control too --like being off the ground, having the legs standing in water cups etc. 5--Dimensioning of the designs on a piece of paper would help as a summary of the 2 designs for wooden hives 6--Since the wood used is quite thick, the wooden hives are going to be heavy 7--If the video is being made for training and education purposes, the information must be delivered faster by practicing some public speaking. Right now its a good amateur effort at information delivery but cannot help scale up or improve production efficiency or training efficiency Just some thoughts.
