Thank you for feedback :) For inner layers without drilling, no electroplating is needed. Therefore, the topology during etching is protected by a photoresist

PS: 17.30 about 600um of gold is deposited on the surface of the 5um layer of Nickle. ---- it seems to be too luxurious to deposit so much of gold.

ENIG Au min thickness is namely called to be six hundredths of a micron (not six hundreds!), i.e. 0,06um, which is a good normal thickness for Au. Can be dragged down to 0,05um (min at avg -2 std.dev. according to IPC) but not lower than that.

In etching always face over and under etch, did you have any idea to control? In NiAu plating, Ni likely to have peeling issue with Au. Any idea to control other than adding acid in between?

For quick prototypes, maybe yes. But not for 5g and hispeed applications. For serial long-term devices, they will never replace it

The PCBs with russian traditional handcraft styles were made as a one-time project for Expoelectronica exhibition. www.rezonit.ru/directory/baza-znaniy/mediateka/ekspoelektronika-2018/ All patterns are printed in our factory, the pcbs in these panles are real workable projects. ​@@SueDohman Your question is about PCB history, those machines were just made with older methods.. you can go back even before PCB at all, a method called Point-to-Point Wiring.

Even tho my initial comment was made in part, in jest, I have wondered before, how the very first machines, to some extent without being ridiculous about it, had to be made by hand & the parts for the machine that then made the next machine etc. I’m sure you see what I mean. But obviously, the answer would be that yes, they of course had to be hand made, since there would’ve been no machine yet made, that could have manufactured the parts etc., for another machine.
