Nice to see the early gold. The Charlotte Half Eagle is so cool. When I picked up a Dahlonega last year I was just walking on air. Thank you for this.

New subscriber, good information and vid. I thought you were cracking out from pcgs holders. Love the 24s slq, it's one of the last 7 I need for my album. That one is way to nice for th elikes of my alb7ms. I like to get low grade coins and break out for my albums cause I don't like holes or copies. Already have my 16 & 18/7 s

Very nice looking SLQ! Also, i agree with watcha mean on that 79 S morgan, almost questionable toning. Maybe not natural in the sense like 90% of the toned morgans we see, but it was stored some way for a number of years or months that gave it a speedy but still "natural" toned look. Not like the egg or potatoe toning trick

I've noticed that a lot of the gold coins minted in Charlotte have a dark sort of toning to them. I have an 1843 $2.5 from Charlotte that isn't quite as dark as the one in this video but it is definitely darker than gold coins produced at the other mints. I wonder why that is......maybe a bit different gold alloy?

Well...I mean, you CAN buy off-brand holders...you just have to treat them as raw coins, and bid accordingly. Assume it's been cleaned, and assume it's 1-2 grade levels lower ("AU" - VF/XF, etc.) than advertised, and you'll be fine.

Pre 1849 gold is so cool. How much is that 1848 worth? If you don’t mind.

The issue Boone has from what I can see is that it’s been over dipped. They stripped the luster on the high points.

Don't take candy from strangers and don't buy off brand holders? I thought it was suppose to be "Buy the coin, not the holders". I guess it's buy the holder over at Ben's coin shop.
