I believe the reason anacs doesn't have the same market value is mostly due to the ugliness of the holder design. Collectors want their collection to be housed in something attractive, hence the demand for OGH, rattler, fatties, etc. Also, anacs does not have online submission form, and their 'truview' photos are a complete joke compared to pcgs. If anacs could fix these issues, I believe they could rival PCGS and NCG

Drew I am an NGC guy for anything pre 64. however for moderns you cant beat ANACS for service and the as we have seen they are usually spot on with the grade.

I'm backing ANACS. The oldest and most well established of the big 3. ANACS will assign a grade regardless of cleaned/details, the other 2 won't. ANACS fees are the most economical. Turn around time is super quick. I sent coins into PCGS and waited 14 weeks before I got my grades and another 18 until I got the coins back into my physical possession - and the grades were terrible PR68DCAM, I was pissed. I cracked them out submitted to NGC who graded them PF70 UCAM. A terrible a costly experience. Buy the coin NOT the holder.

Great video!! I might suggest that if you are looking to get True View of your coins a safer way would be to ask PCGS to reholder. The coin maintains the grade and you get the True View . I believe the cost is $18. That beautiful MS63 Morgan honestly was graded right as a 63 and had little chance to come back as 64. When it comes back as 62 that is a big hit to the resale value. Thanks for sharing the disappointing results....some guys only show the homeruns. Keep up the good work.

Why can't ANY of the grading companies provide a written synopsis of a coin? Why can't they make statements like you do, such as "we give this a 63 because: (written on a paper say like a COA??) Why don't they provide us with a name of the "umpire"..?? or, say, give us a list of comparison coins that they have graded in the past?? Why can't they grade a coin like they might grade gymnastics: Judge 1 gives it a 65, Judge 2 gives it a 63, etc.? The deal is, they can't and they won't... Why? because they are in business, and their goal is to make money by selling their product... getting the most money that they can for the cheapest way to send the product back to you... and with only one other real competitor, they can pretty much do what they want-- as long as WE keep sending THEM coins...

I always enjoy videos like this. A real education. I hate long return times on coin’s especially if you are trying to flip it for profit. Coin grading is expensive and a lot of my coins don’t warrant the grading fees because of the low value of the coin. It would be nice if coin grading companies can offer lower grading fees for lower value coins to make it worthwhile for the little guy to get his coins graded.

Hello there! I just came across your video. I have both PCGS & NGC coins. However, I've only SENT coins to NGC. I like the holders better and the customer service. You can always talk to someone at NGC. PCGS has you email them. All my Registry Sets are with PCGS. I do like PCGS's Registry over NGC's. I guess it's just personal choice. (By the way, I would use ANACS, but I hate the yellow slabs. I liked the older slabs better, but their new slabs are ugly. I only buy ANACS coins for their authentication. I "crack" them out and put them in my albums.) Good video. Thanks.

Hi, Drew. Your 82 Morgan looks nice with that toning. It might have gotten a slight bump in the grade because of the reverse eye appeal. However, that mark across the face would keep it from being gem 65 in my book. The 38D toned Buffalo is sweet. The 2000 ASE is a beauty. The 37S toned Buffalo is also sweet, especially for the grade. I like Ike, but not that Ike. I like the silver Ikes. The monster-toned 81S Morgan is nice, even as a 62. Better luck next time. Thanks. *TYU*

Drew they moved the goalposts. I believe you were right on the grades you expected. This seems to be happening with regularity on PCGS submissions. Understaffed and replacement staff due to covid carnage...they are grading down in fear of over grading. I believe when the coin makes it to the experienced grader(s) they see it isn't over-graded and pass it through even though under-graded. I think it may be a great time to buy these coins...buy the coin. And when they fix the listing ship it would be a good time to resubmit.

It pays for the grading services to run just like they are now. Coin enthusiasts are so worried about whats printed on the label that they keep cracking out coins and resubmitting them. Total win for the grading services. I need some coins graded because I need to verify they are genuine. After that we should focus on the coin itself and not what the opinion of a grading service when it comes to a coin being given certain number. Enjoy your coins, they are historical. I'll usually go with ANACS when needed, due to value and turnaround time. In the end, I guess to each their own.

With a change in management at NGC due to acquisition, I'm not surprised price structures increased. I'd be curious at what the new corporate statement of goals will be. I hope you find out and share. At my company, we're quoting no less than 16 weeks for shipment, qualified by whether supplies and expertise are available then. We are nowhere near business normal. We may not see it for months, many, many months. Our vendors often have zero product and no idea when they can get more. Of course, there is also this worldwide virus that is devastating the ability to get any workers. No doubt, PCGS has had illnesses. I may be one of the few that appreciate very, very long lead times at PCGS. Or at the grocery. Or at the repair shop. And so on. This was a very informative video. I saw that PCGs is fine or generous on lower value coins, but can be all over the place on better date material. A friend got a package back and another dealer offered to buy every one of the coins. Things like a 3 leg buffalo in 64. The ones he sold, every one worked first time at NGC, no it wasn't AT, coin was white. While PC coins can bring more money is it worth the time and grading fees

The paid-for PCGS photos of toned coins have wildly exaggerated color intensity; great for sellers terrible for buyers. And I feel at least in the past PCGS was much more lenient with artificial toning. Again great for sellers terrible for buyers. All the coin grading companies should lower their prices for grading instead of raising them cause their coin graders are not half as good as they were 15 to 20 years ago and they only spend a few seconds looking at and grading the coin which is not enough time to grade the coin properly . The reason i say this is because the grading is no were near consistent enough . You can crack a graded coin out and repeat this 3 times and i guarantee you will get at least 2 different grades on the same coin if not 3 different grades . I know this for a fact cause i have tried it to see how inconsistent they are . If you doubt this try it and you will see for yourself what i am telling you is 100% true .

Sorry about the downgrades. I do have to say though, the color doesn’t improve the grade. The grade is the grade. Color just adds eye appeal (for some people), but doesn’t improve the grade any. The grade is only for lack of wear, hits, abrasions, etc, as well as lustrous finish. I don’t actually like the colorful ones, and would rather have original blast white examples.

If you look at Pcgs graded war nickels in the highest grade it seems that color is adding to the grade. The amount of hit’s on the coin should no way grade that high.

That’s not true at all. Great Color and eye appeal can bump a coin up one full grade and negative and ugly dark toning can drop a coin one full grade. Watch Pcgs’s grading video on toned coins

Coing grading is another fukin coin collection racket! Save your money... educate yourselves in all aspects of collecting, take chances selling, buying, and cut out the middle man. I have about 200 coins that I would love to authenticate. But there is no way in hell that I would pay and let another abusive company dictate the value of my property. It's always about free markets, demand, and supply.
