I understand that NGC and DSCG coin grading companies are highly regarded by auction houses and collectors , therefore more value on your products. If you plan to sell later. Yes grading cost is more expensive from NGC or PSCG.

You should be wearing gloves on coins you want to be graded. Your oils are all over the edges and will work it's way to the obverse and reverse over time, even when slabbed.

I would be very reluctant to send a valuable coin. In the post ,I've heard to many horror stories ,and who hasn't had items go missing 🥴

You can always take a plane, deliver it yourself, pay a one day service of about 120.00 per coin, go to lunch and in two hours your coin would be ready. Or you could just hang around and read a book in their library for a couple of hours. Or you could send them digital picture of obverse & reverse and get free opinion.

Or do you just want to have the fantasy of a rare coin and don't want to know if it's counterfeit, plated or not even as rare as you think, after paying 500.00 for a plane trip, just to find out it's not a coin, not gold, not rare and just a base metal token made as a souvenir for a tourist shop. Wake up already. Just insure it at the post office. Not hard to figure out.

When ANACS does its coin grading...do they have any sort of (marker): like a "star" per NGC for beautiful coins, that would say, this is a high eye-appeal coin? Anything other than straight grading, such as like NGC, and PL/DMPL? Thank you

I don't think so. They are very specific.

If they don't, they should. Mini "ziploks" are softer (easier on the coins), easily labeled, and MUCH easier to get coins out of, without damaging them. Wouldn't recommend them for long term storage, though. But shipping...yes.

Would you look at ANACS as a first step in grading if you thought you had something valuable? If they then determined it to be highly valued then paying up for a PCGS rating?

If you're looking for a cheaper alternative to authenticate a potentially VERY valuable coin, ANACS is the way to go. But I'd only recommend this strategy for a coin that is worth paying all that money for (i.e. two gradings).

Here we go again! Not to be critical of you, Sir, but of the myth that somehow a PCGS slab has more credibility than an ANACS or NGC or ICG slab. And the PCGS patsies will be jumping in to say, "It's true!. It's true!" when in fact, it isn't. The basic collector may assume (by way of indoctrination) that a PCGS slab is better, but real coin experts know better -- the standards don't change from company to company, and their graders are no better or worse than any other's. The whole grading business is highly subjective, and a coin's value may end up depending on whether or not the grader lost an argument with his wife that day, or didn't like his lunch.!

@@TheAvenstar I agree with your statement. A company's credibility is one thing, but the actual money involved is another story. If you're looking for better investment and/or resale value, then which grading company you use does matter. The market is very picky. But yes, as far as quality grading alone goes, it doesn't matter which service.

@@ModernMiner4 You're right that for resale value (today) the grading company matters -- especially when it comes to more recent issues like silver eagles; however, that is only in the short term because it is "trendy" right now to esteem PCGS above all others. HOW that myth got started and perpetuated is anybody's guess. I won't speculate, but like any other myth it will dissipate sooner or later, and I truly believe that in 20 years your MS70 silver eagle will still be MS70 whether it was graded by ICG, ANACS, PCGS or NGC. So, if you want to turn a quick buck maybe it is better to hop on PCGS's mythical bandwagon for the time being. But years from now the extra money you wasted on a PCGS slab will be pointless in my opinion ...and that's all it is -- just my opinion.

1917 Standing Liberty Quarter had 2 varieties. Type 1 had a bare breast and type 2 had covered breast. easiest ones to remember.

@@whatsyurprob158 a variety may be defined as a die or die pairing that offers some distinctive feature not a normal part of the design. He is telling you about varieties.. Some are errors and some have more feathers and other things that can increase value of coin. Just do a search for your coins and see if those years have any.

Rod White The submission form can be found on the ANACS website. Appropriate flips can be purchased on eBay or Amazon, or places that sell coin supplies. I prefer eBay because you are offered many different (and competitive) prices to compare.

Touching valuable coins no matter the metal type without gloves is a very bad habit. That’s the number 1 no-no for coin dealers and collectors. Do you really think these companies have extra 1909 S VDB just sitting around so they can switch them out. Think they have an inventory of 1916-D dimes so they could switch them out. Wake up. THE ONLY coins they have are the ones YOU send them. No extras laying around. Besides how long do you think they'd stay in business if that happened even once! How long do you think it would take to switch out a 1853 Arrows & Rays 50 Cent piece? Next coin show is 3 months out, if you can find one, and it's more profitable just to grade your coins and send them back to you. So wake up. No one wants your shitty coins. They authenticate, grade, encapsulate and ship the fuckers back to you with opinion attached. Easy order. Get it! End of story.
