A: If, after trying all the steps seen here multiple times, you have not been able to find the issue, your most likely looking at one of two possible issues. (1) The motherboard is bad and needs to be replaced. Let me know if you would like help finding a compatible motherboard. Or (2) there is another computer component, shorting out the motherboard and need to be replaced such as the power jack, USB board, Touchpad, etc. You would have to troubleshoot each of those individually but unhooking it from the motherboard and trying to turn the computer on. Let me know if you would like help with that operation.
Q: The computer will only turn on when the charger is plugged in.
A: If your computer will only turn on when the charger is plugged in after all these steps, then I would next try to replace the battery as its most likely bad. Let me know if you would like assistance finding a compatible battery replacement :)

I discovered your video today and it helped me to cross the finish line with an older laptop that all of a sudden was not booting up past an initial DOS-level screen. Discharging internal voltages with the battery removed and charged disconnected did the trick. It would have taken me a while to think of doing that on my own. Thanks!

@@PC_Monkey I have an HP pavilion computer that I have never had any problems with, I’ve only had it one year and it went out of factory warranty two days ago. Anyway, I installed the. iOLo system mechanic over the weekend, ran it and closed the computer. I opened it Monday morning and in about 30 minutes It gave me a warning about the battery getting low and I noticed the power cord wasn’t charging, I changed outlets to be sure it wasn’t the cord, next I decided to restart the computer and now it will not power on or even show a blinking light or anything where you plug the power adapter in. Strange this happened the very next time of use after installing and running the system mechanic. Any suggestions.

Sorry. KZbin does not alert me to 100% of comments. Just most of them. If your computer is not charging or powering on, it sounds like your on the correct video. Have you tried the steps seen here? Also, did anything happen before this issue started? Liquid spill, overheating, a Windows update, etc?

@ no never a problem. Only 1 year old. That iOLo program is the only thing that I installed and ran. System mechanic, optimizer, performance, registry, junk files etc…. And the next day I cut it on and about 30 minutes later, it gives me a notice about the battery needing to be charged, when I look at the battery indicator, I saw that it wasn’t showing any electricity go into the computer or so I thought, but the cord was plugged in and I tried a different outlet. It’s not that. So I decided to restart the computer and when it cut off it just never cut back on and now will not do anything. but no this computer is in pristine condition and yes, I tried your video. Obviously my HP pavilion has an internal battery you can’t get to. I just didn’t know if you may have heard of that IOLO program causing anybody else issues.

This actually worked. I took off the battery and held it down for 1 minute, put the battery back in, plugged it up and pressed the power button and it actually came on! This was so much help. Thank you

Big thank-you for creating this video. I had my laptop on, and went outside for a few hours to do some work. When I came back inside, my laptop was off. When I pushed the power button to try to turn it on, nothing happened. I wasn't sure if the battery had an issue or what. By performing the first couple of troubleshooting steps, I determined the power cord was not plugged into the laptop all the way, so the laptop ran the battery down while I was away. Once I had the power cord inserted all the way, I was able to turn it on. Once I put the battery back into the laptop and turned it back on, I could see the battery was at 1% charge. Another video I watched prior to this one, the guy skipped the first couple of troubleshooting steps, and was already opening up the laptop. This saved me from chasing the wrong problem.

Awesome video. Ive done all the troubleshooting I can but my computer still won't turn on. I have a MSI gt62vr 6re laptop with a 1070m. It worked two weeks ago, but now when I try and power it on, it just shows the light on the power button and nothing else. After roughly 20 to 30 seconds it turns back off. I've tried the whole static dissipation with and without the charger and battery, I've disconnected all external devices, I've inspected the board shy of taking it all out, and ive even connected it to an external monitor to see if there is any visuals. Not showing much signs of life besides the power button lighting up. It indicates that it is charging. Please help

I did not know that I needed to run my computer on battery, without the charger, in order to keep the battery active. From now on, every once in a while, I will use my computer on battery to prevent the battery from dying.

It has a overheating problem before because of the faulty fan but I already replaced it but the temp didn't change. And last month the the display port is suddenly not working but stays on power so I need to wiggle the display adapter a bit and display goes on. But yeah, yesterday while I am working on my powerpoint presentation, it suddenly goes off and it didnt open anymore😢

@@armadox9773 1. Changing the thermal paste and the fan did not solve the overheating issue? 2. Sounds like one of the issues is a loose LCD Cable. If you have to wiggle the computer for the display to stay on, I would first go into the computer and unplug the LCD cable at both ends. Then plug it back in and make sure its secure.
