I think this is my favourite version of this incredibly sad/thoughtful/soulful track. The way the band moves to the violin melodies, as if improvised, the timing slower, just letting those 2 intertwining voices speak to each other....

I hope all their music is listened to hundreds of years from now, with the same amount of appreciation that Classical music enjoys today. They are beautiful. One of my all time favourite bands.

Like someone else said....best song and video on youtube. I like all sorts of shit i really do....this is the best. Instills sorrow at his loss and the millions who have never had the pleasure to have heard his music....but I know I share a magic in my heart with all those who have. Music that speaks.

This and White Mischief are my two favorite PCO pieces. Saw them live in Los Angeles in 1988 and I remember it as if it was yesterday. Only time I have ever had tears of joy through an entire concert. Wonderful.

I recorded that programme, and this piece is part of that programme.I still have it on video.lt was a programme about somebody's trip accross America,if I'm not mistaken.Thanking you,Mick.

@@michaelgaskell7408 ah, now that was another programme again! The chap who went to America in the late 60s, bought a Super8 camera, and ended up being there 12 years, taking footage the whole time! A chap from Cheltenham, Dave Pick, was involved with setting the selected footage with music, and yes, a lot of PCO was used (including Perpetuum Mobile to great effect). Can't remember what they called the resulting programme, but was on Channel 4, and, again, 1989 or so. I really loved watching it :-) (I worked briefly with Dave Pick on some recording in 1992, he headed up FFG records releasing hip Christian music at the time. I happened to start playing Perpetuum Mobile on a piano, and we had a conversation about the programme!)

The studio version of this track appears at "Penguin Cafe Orchestra" (as it is) CD, edited by Virgin Records in 1981. Besides this theme, other tracks included are "Air A Danser", "Yodel 1", "Pythagoras' Trousers" and "Paul's Dance". It's a must. If you find it, you'll enjoy it a lot. :D
