8-17-23 I’m a 70 year old codger recovering from a complete rupture of the quadricep tendon of my right leg. I had surgery 4 weeks ago. I sustained the injury descending a steep trail in the Tetons. With that said: I have really enjoyed watching the Codgers’ fun PCT adventure. Your playlist is truly a morale booster. Wishing you guys the very best and of course, “happy trails.”

I doubt anyone else will share this with you. But many of the things we are told about diet are wrong. There is no research to back up the touted “you only need protein each day about the size of a deck of cards.” That came from the founder of the American Dietary Association who happened to be a Mormon. She believed God told her that to advice people to eat less meat. The intent was to decreases sexual urges so that people would not masturbate which they consider a sin. Well, it interferes with fertility too! God told us to go forth and multiply. So many people are healing from many ailments by following a carnivore diet. You might try a keto diet with less than 20 carbs per day to accelerate your healing and get you back on trail sooner.

Sometimes fires are so hot they sterilize the soil. When that happens it takes a very long time for the plants to take up residence on the land.

I always want to cry when I see all the burn areas 😢 But then you got back into the live green woods and it looks just so beautiful. Those downed trees at your campsite are HUGE! Id have hid my tent in behind there, away from the wind from the privvy 😂

I think forest trail views are as scenic as sweeping mountain views. Sorry that the fires in Washington might shorten your hike. Also, what is the silvery (mylar?) bowl that Hazel uses? Looks nice.

It’s just a pot with reflective insulation to help keep things warm. You just trace your pot and cut to fit

They started Day 1 with Hazel and Mr. Freeze. Mr. Freeze left trail due to an issue. Hazel went on her own and then they met back up much later. I think your referring to Denim Dan and John (Legend). Denim Dan became ill and had to leave the trail to heal. They mentioned a few videos ago, he is back on the PCT. John continued into the Sierra when the Codgers took a break. He completed the Sierra and is way ahead of them.
