PCT 2024 Episode 26: Magic and Storms - Days 83-86

The PCT journey continues! The trail continues to be spectacular. During this particular stretch, however, we encounter thunderstorms two days in a row, forcing us to backtrack for the first time. We also are rewarded with a string of incredible trail magic. We eventually finish off the Sierra portion of the PCT by arriving in South Lake Tahoe! Cheers!

That section of the PCT is gorgeous. But never fun to hike with wet equipment. All those extra oz/lbs of water are never great. Tahoe is a great place to resupply and zero if need be. My best friend grew up there so I try to go up to visit her and her mom every year. Hope you are posting with enough delay that you are missing the fire closures cuz of the Park Fire. Stay safe out there.

Looked like an atomic bomb went off. Stay safe. Enjoying your posts. PCT hikers on you tube is my regular summer tv viewing. Way more beauty and serious drama than those fake reality shows like survivor could ever offer, especially now that summer is fire season for the entire west coast. I grew up in WA and OR. We’d have one bad fire per decade. Now it’s an annual thing to have multiple bad fires. Take care out there.

Starbucks now sells small cans of their Via. I bought 3, the P.O. lost one in Wrightwood and I've not tried them but suspect aga their single Via packets. Thaz the way Trail Magic should be!

Starbucks via is great! Especially compared to what we can find in the trail towns. We’ve been buying the individual packets but I like the idea of dumping the big can into a ziplock!
