PCT 2024 Episode 37: Miles, Mountains, and Waterfalls - Days 121-123 on the Pacific Crest Trail

The PCT journey continues! We have an eventful three days. Oregon is generally considered the easiest section of the PCT, so we make use of the mild terrain and pull off our first 30 mile day! We follow that up with a tougher day climbing up Mount Hood until we reach the famous Timerline Lodge. The next morning, after a quick ressuply in the nearby town of Government Camp, we hike past the stunning Ramona Falls. These were a very memorable three days. Cheers!

I have to watch someone hike the PCT every year. I will be on the So. Cal. section next May! One state up to Seiad Valley for me to do, but only can do up to Tehachapi at that month hike. Thank you for the extra inspiration!

@@justinhitsthetrail5225 Just did PVC to Idyllwild. Ran out of fuel, I suppose because I was up so high. Gonna ditch my kitchen kit. Water carries were dreadful. 31k+ elev. gain! Calves are nice and firm now tho'! I wuz worried about ya'll while on the trail then I realized ur prolly back home and I'm the one out riskin' life and limb. jejeje One day hiker said there were cougars in them woods which I'd never heard. Met two deer hunters and some old Deliverance lines ran thru mah head!

15:38 Ramona Falls was on the old PCT high route, that is now the Timberline Trail. But PCT hikers wanted an easier route, so they got the current short cut. Good for crushing miles, but missing a lot of views.

Sounds like most hikers went to Ramona Falls, fortunately. There’s a few “alternates” that I think should be mainline PCT.

Wow! Congrats on 30 miles and an epic campsite at the end of it. Timberline lodge is where my parents spent their honeymoon there. The lunch buffet there is pretty awesome. Sorry you missed it. I grew up near Mt Hood. It’s a great place to hike. Such lush forests and waterfalls. On a really cloudless day, you can see 4 snow capped mountains, Hood, Adams, St Helen’s and Rainier

There’s Olallie creeks and lakes all over the PNW apparently. We’ve been seeing that name all over Oregon and Washington.
