Traveling through the Ansel Adams Wilderness is an amazingly beautiful experience. My friends and I dodge a temporary closure of trail and search out a rumored hot spring for a much needed soak, before hitching into Mammoth Lakes for a resupply. Then it’s back to the high mountains, ready for more.

Hi. Huck. When I first saw your videos a few months ago I thought who is this red neck guy with a funny beard from Wisconsin. As I watched them I got to know more about you and your funny laugh and your way you would look at life. It is kinda like a little kid who sees something really cool for the first time. I find that really refreshing and I did not want to miss any of them. Thanks for sharing a little about you and I will miss seeing you when your journey is done. Chris.

Was at Reds labor day , hiked to Iva Bell. Another KZbinr, Hungry Hiker said yesterday that Reds is already closed as well as Shuttle Bus to Mammoth, I suppose you can hitch to Mammoth or hike out at Mammoth lakes, Love your channel Huck.

Cruising right through the most majestic mountains. So much more to see there than the PCT/JMT. Bypassed VVR as well - PCT hikers usually don't miss out on that one, just for the BBQ. They are open much later than Reds Meadow.

So is this section not on the PCT? I think if I hiked there I wouldnt want it to end ❤

@@DartmoorPaul VVR is technically off trail. The PCT follows the JMT in that area and heading north like most PCT hikers do, you leave the PCT after Bear Ridge to head to the resort either on foot or by ferry across Lake T Edison. Many continue off the PCT via Goodale Pass down to Fish Valley to visit Iva Bell Hot Springs, before returning to the PCT at Reds Meadow resort. Huck went south and from what I can tell never left the PCT. The hot spring at Reds Meadow is plenty good. I was trying to say that bypassing the JMT from there to Bear Ridge is a much more scenic route, but you have to budget extra time. Northbound PCT hikers during regular season will almost always resupply at VVR. How they get back on the PCT from there varies.

@@DartmoorPaul No, Huck was on the PCT. Thing is, in that area (Reds Meadow to about Selden Pass), there are far more interesting alternatives. For speed, though, the PCT/JMT are the way to go, and in late season with few resupplies, that is what you have to do.
