Hi everyone! Hope this video is helpful to you. The main takeaway for me is that it's not actually all about having the best and lightest gear (as some of the blogs and research out there may tell you). It's about having gear you like, that works for you, and that allows you to live outside for days on end. Do what works for you and who cares what anyone else thinks! 😊

Yeh I agree, many of the lightweight items I've had over the years I didn't really like in the long run. Some of ot is fantastic, but much of it is kinda fragile. Especially on a lang distance hike it's more of a bother then the increased weight of sturdier or more comfortable stuff.

Luxury Item: Full size tooth brush.... That totally cracked me up. Thanks!!!!

I love watching anything PCT related and you are so pleasant to watch/listen to. I'm going back to Campo tomorrow night and hiking to Julian as a physical training hike and test the cold weather clothes because it will be 25 degrees at night and a chance of light snow. I live 40 miles (as the crow flies) from the 400 mile mark of the trail

I would absolutely bring what I think I would need in lots of bags! I have been on too many camping trips where I thought I could leave something at home and always ended up needing it ! 😀

Luxury items are just the best :D Recently I switched my air pillow to a down pillow from Therm-a-rest (stuffed with my fleece) and I love it so much. Now it feels almost like home. I'm also carrying an essential oil blend roll-on stick that smells like mint. It calms and helps against headaches.

Very good video. I liked it so much I just subscribed to your channel and gave you a like. I have the same backpack and water filter. And they good? I love them. Are use this backpack for my winter backpacking trips only though. For the three season time are use a different backpack or different backpacks depending on the situation what year I’m going to use. How much did you spend in the entire trip? Did you use boots or trail runners? I also have the same quilt and I love it. You had very good selection of gear. Thank you so much for sharing this video. God bless you.

Hi Mari Thanks for the useful video. I am planing to do the pct next year and I do wear contacts as well. I was wondering how difficult its is on the trail to find stores selling contact lense solution? Did you carry usually 1 bottle of solution with you? Thank you so much, Simon

Watching this in 2022 the "I never wore this mask" got a 🤨 out of me until I looked at the posted date and realized this was from the Before Times.
@mari.johnson2 жыл бұрын
haha this made me chuckle - the "Before Times." I brought the mask for fires, but fortunately didn't need it. If I were hiking this year, I'd definitely keep a few masks for hitchhiking, town stops, etc.
