I appreciate a honest tent review. Most people want to act like they have the best tent. That said my Duplex is the best 😅

Snot-- been there. Love it. Also appreciated your review of your tent. I use a tent that is also a small footprint and no hassle to set up. Very important. Keep calm and carry on!

Thank you very much for the honest review of the tent. I ended up going with the one person solid due to the smaller footprint. It’s a full pound heavier than the pro but I think the condensation issues will be better as well. Love the videos. Thank you again so much.

Like ur straight fwd vlogging approach. Thought the Piute Cr bridge was out but maybe that’s a diff cross to the N🤷♂️. Looking fwd to ur work around on the other damaged bridge @ S Fork of King I think. This is so different from my “avg” snow yr transit in 2016. Interesting Durston experience. I have a Duplex.
@travelinbeat Жыл бұрын
Yeah S Fk San Juaquin is the most notoriously damaged bridge this year and forced us into a big alternate. All good though, such is trail!

Used an XmidPro2 for the last third of the PCT. Won't bring it for thru hiking anymore. It's a great tent in my experience but the foot print is too big. I literally had anxiety about finding a spot for a period. And not unwarranted, there was more than once in WA where at a popular tent site (and they are few and far) only one of the spots was large enough to pitch. I got lucky each time and some friends also adjusted voluntarily if they were there before me. I did however the the XmiPro1 since I like the overall design and think it's better than the Duplex. Pitching it can be a bit tricky. Staking out the four corners to a square, then inserting the poles worked best. I usually gave it as much guy line at the corners as possible and then cinched it down once it's erected. Not a fan of the door holding stake loop.

Yeah I'm going to switch out for my Duplex very soon-- just need that simplicity and reliability in my life again!

Glad they drained your finger, although I’m sure that sucked. Good to have the antibiotics just in case. Nice job doing the bigger mile day…I bet you guys were all wound up after being held back a little in the snow in the Sierra.

The procedure wasn't too bad, the bill was the biggest bummer!

Great effort in the Sierra's, you guys are rocking it! Did I miss something? Or did you? I don't recall seeing you go over MUIR Pass. What video was that in? Thanks for sharing..
@gmegbert Жыл бұрын
No, they avoided it the way they went to Bishop over Bishop Pass and then by hiking to Piute Pass. They skipped a famous (beautiful in summer) and popular portion of the trail, perhaps 20 miles or so? I'm wondering how that works with completing the trail. By the way, their exit/entrance route was certainly more work overall than going over 12,000. Muir Pass.
@doddpeak Жыл бұрын
Skipped due to a vital bridge being severely damaged.
@travelinbeat Жыл бұрын
Would have LOVED to hit Muir Pass but the S Fk San Juaquin Bridge is destroyed and so we took the recommended alternate. That River is unfordable and this was the most sensible alternative

Great updates. Curious on the tent, do you think the Durston 1p would solve the size issue? I heard the regular 1p is easier to pitch than the pro. Are you wishing you had a different trekking pole tent, or a semi-freestanding? Thanks.
@travelinbeat Жыл бұрын
Rabbit has a 1p non-pro and also requires tremendous amounts of space and experiences similar struggles with getting a great pitch. I think I am likely going to swap out for my Duplex.

Eucerine cream or something similar helps. Medicinal quality Superglue helps prevent them from getting worse so they heal more quickly.

What a paradox, you cannot enter the snow shelter ... because there is too much snow. This shows very clearly how much snow there is. About your tent (good story), I made a promise, send me a text message if you need better. Take care.
