They thought that plant was White Sage (Salvia apiana). It's not. It's St. Catherine's Lace, a type of buckwheat (Eriogonum giganteum). If I see some white Sage in one of your videos, I'll point it out. The chaparral here will usually also have Purple Sage, Black Sage, Cleveland Sage, and some other species, as well as natural hybrids.

Salvia is a large genus in the sage family. Some species have psychedelic properties. Maybe someone was being hopeful!

Salvia is also known as Sage. There are different varieties and uses. And belongs to the mint family.
