The Bishop Pass trail junction is the start of the reroute so are the others continuing on the closed section? 😮

There's an approximately 3-mile (fairly straightforward) cross-country re-route ("Over the Top") that bypasses the missing bridge. This allows hikers to enjoy LeConte Canyon, Muir Pass, Evolution Basin, and McClure Meadow without having to cross the currently raging South Fork San Joaquin.

PS definitely get new shoes… not just because of tread but for your knees. It’s the breakdown of the cushion that’s contributing to increased knee pain, not just the rocky terrain. Also want to avoid or reduce crashing down on your heels when you step. Go for more of a soft landing, but these cushioned shoes all encourage heel striking which transfers impact stress to your knees.
