I'm preparing you another resupply box, let me know your next post office stop. We are missing you at home. Family and friends are stoked about your vids and pics - keep them coming. Enjoyed seeing you preparing dinner, would like to see your dinner preparation and the end result. Seen any scorpions? Also really enjoying you narrating and giving location names as you hike. That was some crazy terrain. Looking forward to #5. Not sure if the solo hiking is really good or not so good? What do you think?XO

I would be scared for snakes, spiders and scorpions being able to get in my sleeping bag (or quilt) and in my shoes! Enjoying the ride with you, thanks for posting. Learning a lot!

that McDonald's is like 20 miles from me South bound. I've seen a lot of pct vids and I'm leaving campo March 5th 2018 and i gotta tell ya I enjoyed your videos a lot more than documentaries I've seen. simple, keep it real, and reading books in a sunset is what it's all about. thanks for sharing.

Awesome videos, I can't wait till your next upload. Your a better man than me with your cowboy camping in an area with all them creepy crawlies around. Be safe out there.

Pretty place, the desert, if you have the temprament for it. I hate trash on the trail, too. I usually pick it up but you can't get it all. Sure nice scenes throughout. Thanks.

Probably my favorite video so far on this trail. Excellent editing for being out on the trail. Enjoy the strange critters, plants and vistas. Also, I have been playing around with a DYI "stickpick" and feel uncomfortable shooting face on sometimes, so I hold the rig over my shoulder to film from the back of my head to see the trail ahead. Offers a little variety. Keep on strolling and filming.Thanks.

Another really good video! Very cool to see what you are doing for camp, and talking about the re-supplies, If you aren't too tired would be kinda cool to see what you are doing for camp meals, thanks so much for sharing your journey.

Thanks for yet another great update, we're all glad to see your covering so much ground. Obviously stay safe! How is the Crown VC holding up so far? I am debating between that and the Exos 58 for my own thru-hike plans. Also, would you mind going into a tad bit more detail about your food and resupplies? I'm interested in what your eating and how much your carrying between each restock, if you don't mind sharing. Keep it up man!

I'm curious with cowboy camping in the desert- don't you have to worry about scorpions and snakes getting into your bag?
@BackcountryBanter10 жыл бұрын
Though this can happen, It rarely does. I don't know of anyone that had this happen this year on the PCT. I never had any issues cowboying in the desert, it was so nice too.

that's like those who are afraid out in the sticks...when the city is the dangerous place. type of thing that just never happens.
@alexhaney1009 жыл бұрын
plutoplatters thanks man. good to know. I'm from canada so never have to worry about scorpions and we only have one kind of snake to worry about ;) I did sleep this way one night on a camping trip in Mexico, but was kind of iffy about it since our guides had told us scorpions like to crawl into your sleeping bags during the day. All of them were cowboy camping though so I figured it couldn't have been that serious.

Joe thanks for all the advice and videos, very much enjoyig this. Curious did you consider using a jet boil or is that too heavy? I am not an ultra lighter yet....
@BackcountryBanter9 жыл бұрын
I don't use them because they are fairly heavy, but I still think they are a great backpacking stoves. They are super efficient on fuel and boil water very fast. The small models really aren't bad choices for backpacking.

So how does your trip so far compared to the AT trip? Do you miss the hammock?
@BackcountryBanter10 жыл бұрын
It's been completely different, but equally great so far. And yes, though an inflatable pad is nice, nothing beats the comfort of a hammock in my eyes.

Down in SoCal every day is a struggle to find water... (It's not really that bad, you just have to pack out around 4 liters and dry camping is pretty much par for the course)

is it dangerous to cook at your campsite?
@BackcountryBanter8 жыл бұрын
It is not ideal. The best choice is to stop, cook dinner, and then hike on for a mile or so to camp.
