I've got a Dell Inspiron 4000 with Windows ME. Most secure operating system ever -- it was so terrible that MS replaced it after 6 months, so no one ever wrote a virus for it.

@@TheDunbartxeen and the funny thing ofc is that Windows XP turned out to be the most reliable/stable Windows atleast up to that point 😄 but ye ME crashed so many times on me that went straight to XP, especially because in my understanding Windows 2000 was just the bit more reliable "big brother" of Windows ME

I remember my first contact with WME. I was 10yo. It was installed on a dad's friend's PC and I remember thinking when I saw the boot screen "omg, this PC is modified. That's one way to show ownership... Anyway, looks nice!". Then, a couple of weeks later, in a PCMag magazine that I found opened in the supermarket, I as skipping pages and then I saw an ad for WME with kids in it. I quickly said "No way! It's a new Windows? is this for kids?" I was kind of anxious of getting my hands on a Windows ME disc to install it in my dad's computer, I was hyped, I was looking desperately to explore it, to hear the new sounds, to see if this came with Plus 95 or Plus 98 things. Finally, a month later, an IT guy came to our house and installed Windows ME. A week later, I remember saying something so dirty for my age back then that my mom slapped me in my face for that. "Vida hijueputa la mía, ¿qué es esta mierda?" / A close translation could be "For f*ck sake, what the f*ck is this sh!t!?" Lots of BSoDs, everything crashing, drivers malfunctioning, sudden reboots, Scandisk window during 20min each time the computer rebooted, randomly freezing... A living hell. It was the worst week for all of us in our house. After that slap and explaining her why I said that, she went to the PC and a couple of hours later... She hugged me and then said: You're right, f*ck that sh!t. But never say that again, young man.

I have a Compaq Pentium 3 733 PC with original Windows ME, that Windows worked very well if all the drivers were native and there were no mixes with Win98SE drivers. It was Windows, along with 2000pro, that implemented the "windows driver model" or WDM. and the "legacy free drivers" policy is what they said... nothing that wasn't PNP.

Used this operating system for years as it was my first PC... it was a Pentium 3, Gateway brand. It was extremely buggy and often my Dad thought I was doing something wrong due to the amount of system recoveries and corruptions that occurred. Taught me a lot to be honest, from that point, I got my hands on Win2000 on a Dell laptop from my aunt that had a gig of RAM in it. Later upped to Windows XP realizing that the said laptop she gave me was used, and had a XP key already in its memory
