Slipper clutches, like any other motorcycle aid, help better the riding experience by pardoning the mistakes. A slipper clutch prevents the rear wheel from locking up and hopping when you make a downshift too aggressively or time it badly. On today’s episode of PD Simplified, Shumi explains how the slipper clutches work.

Please guide on choosing riding gears specifically on Riding jacket/Pants/boots like you did previously on helmet. There are few different types and quality in the market but choosing one out of them seems a bit of a hassle for first time buyers as like me.

@@shu_mar emergency braking also consist of areas where brake fade occurs. One can engine brake and slow down without have to even touch any of your brakes. In hilly areas where one have to rely too much on brakes engine braking can be used. Also one also must take care of the speed themselves at the first place to increase the window where one has more time to react and take steps based on it.

This has happened with me , I was in 4th gear cruising around 50-60 and suddenly uncle in front of me stopped his santro out of nowhere. There was less than 1/2 meter distance between me and the car, I panicked and started downshifting and also applied hard break. Of course I fell down my helmet savedme my bike got damaged and uncle drove off without even seeing what happened at back. If my bike had sleeper clutch this wouldn't have happened. Thank you Shumi for explaining this, I'm definitely going to buy my next bike with slipper clutch PS : I was riding avenger 220

Lets make this clear The quickshifter allows u to down n upshift withouth the use of clutch lever And the slipper clutch lets u downshift smoothly while taking away the jerk which u recieve after downshift So the end results are Quickshifter - shifting while accelerating without the use of clutch Slipper clutch - downshift becomes smoother......so while taking on traffic ....like really hard....u dont have to engage on brakes .....just downshift and continue to accelerate Quickshifter can be understood ....bt slipper clutch.....u need to experience it

Question: do we press the slipper clutch lever differently than a regular clutch - don't need to press the lever all the way?

Would it be smart for me to install a slipper clutch on my very first bike, and learn on it? What could be some of the disadvantages by doing this?

If I understand correctly, with a slipper clutch in place, Engine braking will not be available the way its there now, usable in steep hill descent? Is my understanding correct, if yes, it can be a big problem putting extra pressure on braking system
@vinayakmadhav1514
@vinayakmadhav1514 2 жыл бұрын
Engine braking will be there bt just bit smoothened out....so u wont feel the jerk after a downshift....thus helping u to downshift without worrying about the jerk
@shu_mar
@shu_mar 2 жыл бұрын
Use as much brakes as you want. Modern brakes can handle it. Engine braking for descending slopes is an oooold idea from a long time ago.

Is there a threshold of the reverse torque to activate the slipper clutch? , I have adv250 enabled with the slipper clutch, I have tried downshift at a slightly high speed and I felt the engine braking clearing

Hey shumi can we have an episode on motorcycle vibrations and ways to reduce them...
@shu_mar
@shu_mar 2 жыл бұрын
Not really. Motorcycles vibrate. What’s too much is a personal preference. And if the engine’s the source you can’t do much. I don’t want them butter smooth anyway.
