PD4501-1001 Restoration Part 1

PD4501-1001 (EXP-331) is the second Scenicruiser prototype Greyhound & GM created in 1953. It is the platform for which the remaining 1000 Scenicruisers were based(1954-1956). Due to a law at that time, this coach was originally built with an emergency exit door at the left rear. The law was changed prior to the production of all 1000 examples that would follow. This prototype was the only 4501 ever produced with an E-door. After three years of engineering and testing, PD4501-1001 was delivered to Atlantic Greyhound Lines in July 1956 (fleet# A-2267). The coach was used alongside all the other production Scenicruisers for the next twenty-plus years. The E-door was removed by Greyhound at some point, while the bus served in revenue service for them. I believe the door was removed in 1961/1962 when all remaining 4501s were sent in batches to Marmon-Herrington, in Indianapolis, IN for complete overhauls. I bought the coach in 2008, and have been reproducing, and collecting rare parts since for it's restoration. I began re-installing the E-door in the fall/winter 2015. I'm just thankful that this bus is getting what it deserves and that is another life by someone who knows what they're doing and is most deserving of her. I just bought me a rare twin coach tc25 motorhome that I have to get working on. Good luck on your restoration! Can't wait to see another update!

I remember this coach as a kid in D.C. It was owned by a company in the 60's-80's called "Ridgley's Bus Service".

Very nice precise work. Love seeing these Motorcoach icons being restored to their former glory. I converted a MC8 into a motorhome and that was an incredible amount of work, but nothing compared to what you are doing

To make sure all of you imagine American classic bus that this but it is not the original of the door right there that someone cut it but in the future one day that this dog would be removed out of there and that little dog is going to bring them back the original body but however this guy that this is his boss he could do whatever she wanted to play but this is his own decision and I kind of like

Thanks. I have been very busy since 2008. Feels good to actually start to make some progress. Original interior seat cloth has been reproduced in England (as was original in 1954), and all seat covers are sewn. Much curved glass has been reproduced, as well as several window gaskets. This one is no small undertaking!

You know what I got a breaking news to you that that body the half of it and not the part of that for us right there because are you calling or year cheat once they're going to find out that the little door is not the part of it of that bus but however the body of the original of The Little Door and the body was scrapped but however this is your decision this is your bus and this is your RV bus on my kind of travel you want to go to to make sure that it is supposed to be safe and always measure good of the body first and then you cut the bus and lands because how about you just cut it and welded dog Ribbit you know that's it
