I've been following along and everything looks great so far. However, I'm having a really hard time attaching the waistband. It's a few inches shorter than the actual waist of the shorts, including the fly facing, so I cannot pin the band to the waist without creating folds in the waist. I think I cut everything correctly. What am I doing wrong?

Hi! Some fabrics can shrink a lot when fusible interfacing is applied. To check this, measure and compare the waistband pattern piece (paper) with the actual interfaced waistband piece (fabric). If you notice a difference, the fabric must have shrunk. There are two possible solutions: a) Make small cuts in the waistband seam allowance. By doing this and pulling when pinning, the waistband will fit the waistline. This method works best if the difference is minor. b) If you have extra fabric and interfacing, a more effective solution is to apply the interfacing first and then cut the pattern piece. This method is commonly used in tailoring.
