I appreciate how hyundai have avoided using a CVT for the plug-in hybrid

Wow, seeing the range on the PHEV, 695km, is a lot more reassuring than the 102km on the EV. PHEVs are so well suited to Australia, since the EV only range component on a PHEV is usually exactly what the typical Australian driver uses to commute to work and back (typically around 40km), while the long distances using the ICE are perfect for this wide brown land. Kudos on Hyundai for bringing out the PHEV, and I'm surprised that it's not more popular than the worryingly short range EV, though the 38kW 2020 version has a more decent range, and better acceleration too apparently. Perhaps it's the dual clutch transmission that worries buyers, but really, PHEVs are perfect for this country. It's strange indeed that Toyota haven't brought out the Prius Prime to compete with Hyundai.

Good review, and the Ioniq EV's acceleration is pretty respectable for the 88kW, but the range on the 28kW pre-2020 model is not much better than a 1st generation Nissan Leaf, and not really that useful for anything other than city driving. You'll also chew up about 7km of range getting from 0 to the top speed, and 2-3km of range goes flooring it to 100km/hr.

I had both and this comment is crazy. The first Leaf is lovely but has no range. The 2017 ioniq electric is wayy more effecient.

You forgot to turn off the traction control for the plugin, but you did turn it off for the EV...

Video is only a demo. We do all performance testing behind-the-scenes with a Vbox, including trying out all modes to find the quickest time. In this case there was no wheelspin during testing so the times would have been identical with it on and off.

1:00 -Hyundai IONIQ is not a sedan. It's a hatchback or liftback.

Hello. Do you know if they offer acoustic laminated glass windshield and the driver side left and right? I I did test Nissan leaf electric however there was no acoustic glass.

What is the average acceleration g force of the ioniq electric from 0-100?
@PDriveTV
@PDriveTV 5 жыл бұрын
Not sure about the average - the Vbox doesn't provide that figure. Peak was 0.964g.

@@PDriveTV Alright I understand, anyway could you see at what speed it peaked 0.964g?
@WatsitTooyah
@WatsitTooyah 5 жыл бұрын
@@thefuturisticdreamer3242 I don't know for sure but intuitively the g force would be constant or start off high and immediately decrease as acceleration decreases. The g force would correlate with acceleration right?
@thefuturisticdreamer3242
@thefuturisticdreamer3242 5 жыл бұрын
Corey Vollmer It could be just a sudden spike of torque from its electric motor at a standstill. I doubt it could pull 0.964g at constant even during low speeds, Tesla’s P100D pulls 1.1g and that has over 700hp motors powering all the wheels.

Get it right, its a 28kw battery.

The 2020 version is 38kW, but this is 28kW, correct. Very efficient, but really requires a decent charging network in Australia, which we don't really have. Good luck driving from eg Tamworth to Newcastle. Tip: you won't make it.

If you need something in the car to be exploding and combusting to have fun, you can always just light a fireworks when you push the pedal =) It's not like these cars are fun to drive with a regular old 1.5 L gas engine anyway.
