Pea Shooter Carb clean Yamaha V-Max

This is a simple how-to video on how to do the peashooter procedure. This procedure was my first time ever doing anything to a carb besides adjusting the idle. If you have any questions, please ask and I will answer as best as I can.

OMG..my 07 vmax is very sluggish off idle..I think you provided me a fix! Thanks and nice growl..mine doesn't that nice but was very snappy before the carb problem.

Whilst fuel/air help idle - I found the best fix for idle and reduction/removal of cold start back firing was the replacement of the factory ignition coil packs. I used some direct coil over plug units from a later bike and wired them directly to the factory coil wiring. The result was a lot more smoother and faster throttle response. All for ~$40

Mainly performed as a preventative maintenance procedure. I did notice slightly sluggish throttle response and the need to apply choke for cold startup was new. This, along with regular fuel treatment cleared it up.

hello,perfect video,I did everything U did exept I didnt remove those covers which cover those snicky srews,and my V-max running like brand new(2007 5K miles)thank You so much!(but by the way can You tell me why those 4 srews have to move 2 turns each,and later back on?)

Detroit Dizzle Berryman B-12 Chemtool is what I use, but SeaFoam is perfectly fine too.

So, you're drilling out the brass plugs to get to the A/F mixture screw? And then plug them back up with what, a rubber stop?

Hey man awesome video and I know this is in the past but can you tell me which screw is the idle rpm screw? I tried checking my service manual and the internet but can't seem to find it... Honestly I'm fairly desperate at this point...

It's on the left side of the bike in between the carbs it's a little thumb screw under a brass thing

the instructions on the carb cleaner can say ... start the vehicle ... let it warm up a bit ... remove the intake tube and spray cleaner directly in to the carb ... while applying a little throttle ... all the gunk and clogged material goes out as black smoke our of the exhaust ... i have tried it with many old cars it worked well ... why wouldnt it work here ???

That will work to remove a small amount of gunk on the surface and visible areas. This process gets directly into vent tubes and more internal cleaning.

From fully closed position, how many turns should it be to get it to factory specs? When you backed the screws out, did you take note of how many turns you started from to know how many turns to put them back?..

Hey dude i plan on getting one of these, is it possible to remove the airbox and replace it with a conventional fuel tank?

a slim custom one by Morleys Muscle. the carbs sit up too high on the motor to have a conventional tank.

Reason is well know. You don't even have to know how to repair bikes its simply physics - to lower centre of gravity you lower the tank with a fuel.

How are you gonna filter the air that goes into the carb? I removed it and have individual filters on each carb? But a fuel tank? Doubtful!

The last time I had my bike restarted the diaphragm o. Carbs was replaced old gas drained , oil changed but I stuck it back I. The garage it’s now a few years gone by I need to restart it ride it for a few weeks I want to sell my 1986 Vmax anyone

Almost 100% of idling problems is a clogged pilot jet. Your technique will do nothing for that.

carbs should come off bike and be stripped then cleaned with carb cleaner and compressed air. then with the factory specs, climber manual, 40 bucks rebuild. thats the only way to do this job right. and to set floats and sync carbs you have to have the specs and sync meter . talk to a bike mechanic thats what they will tell you,

Obviously you have never ever in your fucking life rebuilt 4 Mikuni carbs on a Vmax.... You'll spend $$$ on all the factory gaskets/seals to do the job right. Nice armchair quarterbacking fuxktard.
