When I hear this riff, my brain automatically inserts the Mustaine's guitar part in :D

Ha. I was playing this riff yesterday on a bass before I sold it. A long, long, long time ago, MTV used this riff. It’d going “MTV News, you hear it *riff* first.”

Yes Mark! I always enjoy the metal bass content you do and Peace Sells is my favourite Megadeth song as well

@@moggy_jr he’s still a nice guy. So he was cheating on his wife, doesn’t change that he wasn’t an asshole rockstar when I met him. Down to Earth easy going and took the time to talk to me.

Hi Mark, every time I watch one of your videos, I realize what a great teacher you are! Great eye for detail, and there's always a couple of things to take away, no matter what style or genre. It's good to remind us all this free knowledge is far too often taken for granted... Have a nice day, sir

Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but this was the video where I had heard him say you need to pick the trill, not hammer-on: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmOXYoBumrGUg8k Time index 01:00. Video is from 2020. "It's not a hammer-on, you have to pick it". His exact words, not mine... But hey, he may have said something different in another video, I guess. And no one says he always plays it exactly the same, I suppose. I’ve never seen them live, so if you say you saw him up close doing it, I guess I can't argue.
@talkingbasslessons3 жыл бұрын
Yeah he probably plays it different all the time. In this video from about 1:15 he refers to the hammer on. Then slow it down on the performance to see the single pick and hammer on. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZzIhHyPnpxsodk That said it’s not exactly difficult with one extra picked note so do whatever sounds right to you.

I saw a recent interview with Ellefson and he said that it isn’t a hammer-on on the 7-8 of the D string. He picks it.
@talkingbasslessons3 жыл бұрын
And as I linked in another comment he also showed it as a hammer on in another video. It really doesn’t matter. Pick it or hammer it. It’s no more difficult. You just add one more pick in there.
@TiertheRifter3 жыл бұрын
@@talkingbasslessons thanks for the response. I’ve always played it as a hammer-on and was surprised when he said that. He is very fast and accurate with a pick. I enjoy the lessons. Thanks.

Awesome viideo. I used to listen to megadeath for the first 3 good albums, this being one of them. Have not really stayed up with them after I stared hearing them being played in my dentist's waiting room. This album, along with So Far, So Good, So What, and Killing is my business and business is good, were all great albums, you could still hear a little punk influence in them . This is like a trip down memory lane, thanks for it. Also, any song you put up is great for learning, so even if you did more later megadeath, I would still watch and learn. Would be cool to do some Suicidal, and way more SLAYER. Maybe some NOFX. Say what you will about Fat Mike (I like him), but he does some seriously good bass lines in some of his songs. or like U.S. Bombs song seventies60's, and stuff like that.
