I don't care what the critics have to say. This album was a masterpiece! Probably their best one so far!!

Imo, this has the sound of dead end kings with the heavier nature of viva emptiness (my personal favorite). But I can't say they've done anything that doesn't absolutely slap

The transition into the chorus at 1:44 actually sends chills down my spine. It's always so incredible how much of a simple change in dynamics increases the emotional impact of a song.

though I don't want to create a "flame" debate, but I sometimes try and think if I prefer Katatonia, MDB, or PL.. then, I realize that, once again, "scandinavian flow" wins. Katatonia's never "failed", even when they were still trying and finding their sound (see Last Fair Deal Gone Down.. It's unbelievable. Now, I am a Katatonic Soul.

"I become the one you haven't seen for years" Amazing lyrics once again (and also are the music and vocals as well), Katatonia never disappoints, thumb up
@aviv64997 жыл бұрын
I wonder how it contrasts with the line "The one you are looking for is not here." that crops up here and there in the discography. It's like "the one you are looking for..." is the good guy; the positive version of the author that others expect to find, and "the one you haven't seen for years" is the shadow side. The darkness. It's like the author made progress and achieved some semblance of happiness, which has suddenly come crashing down leaving them at square one - they've returned to the darker version of themselves that others haven't seen in years.
@ultratensao Жыл бұрын
After years of hearing to this music and interpreting the lyrics the way I wanted, Jonas gave me the meaning during a show here in Quebec City. It's a lyric about someone addicted to alcohol. It made so much sense after he said that.
@jdunham Жыл бұрын
that definitely makes sense. I actually never focused on the lyrics to this, but after reading them, "two shots and I need more", "a taste of the void", "waves of dependence" etc. it became pretty apparent. Jonas's lyric writing is really, really good, even when it's much more obtuse. he has a way of painting affecting images with very few words
@UnknownHumanOnline7 ай бұрын
@@jdunham"pretty" apparent ... 😂no shit to mate. P.d. I know what you mean about lyrics BC I have same tendency to "not listen" lyrics and focus on music, melody etc... And don't help English is not my native language...

This song is amazing. I read that Jonas refused to specify what the song is about, but in my opinion, it is cleary about struggling with alcoholism.
