He tends to be the embodiment of almost winning Rainbow Road, then getting blue shelled just before the finish line, and being knocked back by every single racer passing by without exception, ultimately resulting in coming in last place. Actually, there are theories that Thomas and his friends used to be people until Sir Topham Hat turned them into trains and put them to work for his railroad.
