Everyone I’ve dated has told me I’m heavy to hold and it has made me believe that I am unloveable because of the baggage that comes with me. ABSOLUTELY. I have Bipolar 1 and BPD and this is everything I’ve been told and felt over and over and over. It is such an empty feeling to be told repeatedly that you’re too much. Soul crushing to watch people actively stop themselves from loving you.

@@YourHallowqueen Understanding of BPD and Bipolar are much better than they once were and with a good partner it is possible for relationships to work. But it takes a lot of work for both people in the relationship to understand the needs their partners have and to find ways of making it work for you both as a couple. A good start is to find a therapist that you trust and start developing your understanding of yourself and how to regulate your internal emotional states. Not to stop being you but to become more aware of what your triggers are so you can then be in control rather than feeling out of control (DBT is one option). Not saying this is easy. It isn't easy at all. None of it is. But there are therapies with good evidence to support that they do help. As someone with cPTSD, autism and ADHD I have absolute support, sympathy and admiration of anyone else who lives with conditions that make relationships difficult.

I don't have BPD but I do have autism/adhd and the experience can be very similar for women/afab. I've never heard a song explain what trying to be in a relationship when you're like me is like and the fact that finally, there's someone who's put the experience and emotions into words... The stigma behind borderline personality disorder is so hurtful. Doctors will literally decline to treat some people for it because they are “untrustworthy and treatment-resistant.” This song perfectly describes the pain that comes with BPD. Feelings of worthlessness, acts of self-sabotage, fear of abandonment, and how people treat you like you’re disposable. Thank you so much for your bravery to put out a genuine song filled with such raw emotion 🖤 it’s definitely one of those things that make you think “This person is talking about me.”

As someone who has always been told I’m annoying or too much, I’ve never had a friendship last because I’m easily replaced and no one gives me as much as I give them, my emotions have never been taken into considering because I’m always ‘just sad again’ or I’m too loud or too manic. As someone who has had literal panic attacks because I thought I was annoying someone a bit too much with my presence, as someone who has always felt like I would never find anything real because I’m just not the type of person that can be loved, this, hit, my, heart. I showed this song to my fiance, because it's all things I've tried telling him before, and I don't think I've EVER had a song make me cry this hard before or hit me so hard. And he didn't even say anything, he just grabbed me and held me. Especially when it hit the "if you've had enough, thanks for trying" because I've told him that word for word, as well as the "how can I love myself when I'm so draining to everyone else" part. I could finally have something to properly express it to him so he would understand.

One of the most painful things I ever heard was from my husband. I have clinical depression and had just moved to a new country where I only had him to talk to. I was sharing my feelings and trying to work through them with him, though admittedly I had been doing it frequently because I needed to see a therapist. He said "I can't handle you every night. It's too much. I can't keep listening to your depression talking." It hurt so much. But he was right. I needed to find help, not just vent to him day in and day out. Everyone gets burnt out, even the most supportive people can't go on forever hearing their loved one say they considered offing themselves. It's heavy. Lovely song, it hurts to hear but it's also kind of enlightening in it's own way. I hope that in the future it's less stigmitized to discuss mental health and needs, and that it's easier for us to access help for it.

I'm autistic plus I have a shit ton of burnout and trauma I've been recovering from for 2 years now and I have to depend of my parents for a lot of help. It's like for the first month or so it was cute and quirky and all "mental health matters" and "don't be scared to ask for help" but 2 years in it's different.
