Not so sure about that - SLO is a gain classic and it’s 6L6? The EVH line? A lot of Mesa’s lineup? I generally like the grit in the mid-range of EL34’s but a lot of great gainy 6L6 out there!

I wish Two-Rock would release a TS1 Studio 35W, similar to the Studio Signature but with the TS1 circuit style… (I know, maybe too much concurrence with the TS1 40/20, but still a smaller cheaper head would be lovely).
@Spidouz Жыл бұрын
The more I think about it, the more I realize it would make complete sense to have a “Studio TS”. Just take the lead channel of the TS1, no extra switching such EQ1/EQ2 and FET, keep just the usual three switches for deep, mid and bright, put bypass in the back, it would become an awesome amp for lead, perfect companion for players that already own a clean amp such the Studio Signature (Or even CRS and TC). Smaller head, lighter, less wattage, so no real competition with the big 100w heads… and also cheaper (for a Two-Rock), even if it’s in the £3k range like the curent SS.
@cosmonaut99424 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but you have your background on the TS1 wrong. It was originally produced in limited numbers and was named "Tone Secret 1" after Taku Shakashta who died in 2010. Bill Krinard made several NOS models for his friends. One went to me and I had it for 9 years and sold it last year. Bill had Robben Ford's Dumble in the shop because Robben wanted Bill to build a clone of his Dumble to use on the road in California. The original TS1s were clones of that amp, including the bright cap which I and others hated. It made the amp harsh and bright. Originally, Two Rock was only going to sell limited edition TS1 amps. Bill changed the design to eliminate the bright cap and some regular production TS1s were sold. Then production started again a few years ago when ownership of Two Rock changed hands again. If you think that this is Two Rock's most underrated amp you should check out the Akoya. I think it's more underrated than the TS1.
@cliverkay4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely correct , Poor Taku had the factory unit next door and one night on leaving and getting into his Nissan Sports car he was attacked ( attempted mugging ) and stabbed to death . Taku was also famous for making Pickups , Smokey Signal Pedals and of course the Guitar which he built for Robben Ford . He used that for a few years . The TS1 was a full D style amp as it started out but as most D guys know that a Dumbleator is required as the buffered effects loop . The latest version now has that built in . Even with nothing in the loop the original sounded better with the Dlator on ..These amps are sensational , but a little expensive , and it is easier to go to Amplified Nation or Ceriatone to get something similar at a reasonable price.
@cosmonaut99424 жыл бұрын
@@cliverkay Not sure you'd save that much with AN. You would with Ceriatone. If saving money is the goal definitely go with the lesser models. It's my understanding that AN has cloned the Mayer Sig so he's a fan of Two Rock. That tells you something. Those older TS1s, the originals, were made with all NOS parts, including the transformers. It's what separated them from the production amps.

I understand the heritage of the circuit. I think if you want to appeal to more buyers in 2023 when owning 10 amps might not be achievable by many players but who still want to spend a pretty penny on A quality VERSATILE amp, a reverb version would be a good gamble. Love 2 rock tones got excited by the joey landreth sig. I would consider trading my Roseland for a reverb version of the TS-1 ….maybe! Never heard a bad TS-1 demo sounds great.
