There is no excuse for the irreverence and lack of respect these "groundskeepers" show to the people who have passed before us. I can only say it is a shame that people who are in paid positions there at the cemetery don't take more pride and show the respect and passion that you do. I understand they can't spend as much time on each grave as you do, but they don't have to leave it without removing the cut grass or knocking things over. These are precious markers honoring familes' beloved ones who have passed.I can understand your frustration and disgust. Thank you for your care and joy in this beautiful work you do. It looks so beautiful! ❤

i’m starting to watch this video and I just said before and I’ll say it again God bless you. You do a beautiful job to remember those or forgotten and by reading their names you remember them I paid them respect. Also, I find random rocks pebbles on my mother-in-law‘s grave when we go up to take care of them and that’s usually by someone of the Jewish faith they leave their condolences by using a rock. My mother told me this years and years and years ago when we used to visit her mother and father in Calvary cemetery in New York so when I clean around the graves husband, mother and aunt, I always put the rock backbecause I know it was left with respect. Maybe because there’s no other rocks in the around that area it looks like all grass so that could be the reason why just in case thank you again.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼💖✝️

May the good your are putting out in the world come back to you in ways you can't imagine. I know you don't do it for that, but it happen anyway. For this little one, so sweet her nick name of Peachie was put on her headstone. Precious. I wish the cemetary would use the blowers but even if they don't, remember what you are doing matters to the loved ones, to you and Ronin, and your subscribers. Be excellent to yourself! Good job!

There is a lot of grass to clean up, but disrespecting the graves is horrible. I've noticed the older sections also don't seem to get the same care as newer ones. I don't know if it is funding or laziness. My husband passed 3yrs. ago & they never did put black dirt over his grave, just the clay gumbo. I asked at the office & was told they were waiting for the grave to settle first, next excuse they were having trouble getting dirt, then it was because of the drought so grass won't grow anyway. My family went and bought bags of potting soil & grass seed & did it ourselves. Strange since new sections were completed (yes I saw them) right after a new burial. We prearranged our burials to save our kids from having to do it. That was back in the early 80's. Enough of my ranting.....Thank You so much for all you are doing. ❤❤❤

I don't know all the science behind it, but it is a quaternary ammonium that breaks down the biological growth on stone and keeps working overtime. We use it here in the states for our major military cemeteries to keep the upright marble veteran stones so bright white.

Well, having done a bit of mowing in a graveyard, I know that at times mowing is basically all you can do and the wind generally cleans the stones off for you of any detritus. It basically is a matter of do you want to mow the grass yourself or gripe about cut grass which only takes a broom to remove and no one will even volunteer to do this much for the graves. If they are paid to include blowing it off then that's a different situation but the people I have worked with weren't and often only got to work a few days a month doing multiple graveyards because they can't pack everything up to do them one at a time as it's just too great an effort often for too little pay if they get paid at all as a lot of it is volunteers kinda like what you're doing cleaning the stones. There needs to be more effort to convince people to become more involved as where mowers are paid well, the cost of one mowing could buy a tombstone for a grave in need of one where families of the deceased should be showing their love for the memory of those buried there. It's also a matter of respect for them. Groundskeepers should be taking care of the mowing and the graves in general doing what you're doing and yet, they don't which is why people like yourself are so appreciated. As I think I mentioned the other day. I created a Facebook group called "Cemetery Caretakers USA" where I actually used one of your videos to launch it. Come by and join it, share your videos and let's see if we can get more people involved. If you don't want to, maybe one of your followers might. It's a worthy thing to try to get more people doing what you're doing as there are a lot more graveyards and a lot more even where you are that one man and his son can't be expected to get to them all.
@steveneighner7543
@steveneighner7543 5 ай бұрын
You did a great job and it just needs the headstone centered to be complete. Have you considered carrying a backpack with you to hold your grave tools as that might make it a lot easier for you. A small shovel, a putty knife, some extra brushes, maybe a blower or even some spare D2 should you run out and forgot the cannister at home? It seems most of you guys cleaning headstones always forget stuff and when you need it, it's at home lol. If you make a habit with a backpack, it becomes almost addictive to grab the backpack to take with you although then it becomes a matter of making sure you put everything back in it when you take things out.
@VirginiaTombstoneRevival
@VirginiaTombstoneRevival 5 ай бұрын
I get your point, but I have seen the crews out there walking around and half of them are wearing backpack blowers...they just don't use them it seems. As for forgetting things, I go out there never really knowing what markers I will clean or what job will need to be done...I don't like keeping my truck loaded with stuff personally. I do however want to get a little wagon cart type things to pull around with the majority of the stuff I use most often.
@steveneighner7543
@steveneighner7543 5 ай бұрын
@@VirginiaTombstoneRevival yeah, if they have the tools and are paid to do it then they should. As for a wagon, it's a good idea if you mean like a little red wagon turned on it's top where the wheels won't be moving about and then you just load what you need from the truck. But then, that would still require you to load the stuff in your truck plus the wagon. Most of the other ones I watch can't even remember to bring a small hand brush or something to wipe the graves off with and that's the only thing they need to bring with them because they don't fix things, they just clean them off to read the inscriptions. They could toss it in their glove compartment or under the seat but always leave them at home lol.

My Find-a-Grave pal uses an old pull-style golf cart for his “graving” tool kit. It works well and doesn’t take up as much trunk space as a wagon. Also a battery powered weed whacker works wonderfully on the flat areas where grass has overgrown non-engraved inlaid stones.
