Those endless perfect tsunamis are just unreal. The beauty of the line, the tube, the blue turning into massive white explosion is amazing. The surfing motion onto that makes the best couple nature/human being
@720069mf8 жыл бұрын
+zic'n + These are NOT tsunamis'-the waves in this vid are waves generated by large storms in the nor pacific; tsunamis are generated geological happenings such as earthquakes, landslides which displace huge amounts of water resulting in a 30' to 90' rise in sea level .

Did you noticed that virtually ALL of the goofy footers got clobbered on these waves? It's tough enough to take the initial drop on these monsters with your back toward the wall, but even more difficult to make the bottom turn that way... just not enough inertia to get into position to bury a rail and save your life.

they use to tow in this size but now because of what has been learnt from tow surfing they are better at paddle surfing. The level has just lifted so much

+Charles Ross yes me too we dont need all that extra junk in the water.I was walking the kanaha beach today and a pile of wind surfing junk rolled up on the beach, then it dawned on me that the best way I can discribe windsurfing is a floating rubbish pile all Mauis outer reefs are littered with wind surfing junk! Everyone crying no GMO !!!! How about no littering our precious outer reefs !!! Nash, Hitec, Second wind and all the other floating rubbish pile companys in Hawaii!! Take your rubbish back to the states with you all!!!Its kaka!!!!!Hahahahaha!!!!!!lol!

I really think the paddle guys have taken the sport backwards. Even if they make the biggest drops they are not surfing the waves, they are just hanging on for dear life. Laird and his strapped crew were far more progressive in surfing Peahi than they are today. Just my opinion.
@wilsargisson11558 жыл бұрын
+Michael Work I agree. Although it's harder and maybe takes more balls to paddle in, they are certainly not utilising the full potential of the waves in the way the tow-in crew are. I mean, what are the chances that a surfer paddling in will EVER get a barrel like the one Garrett McNamara got at Jaws over 10 years ago? That greatest barrel in surfing history that he got. Shane Dorian's one last year (or the year before) didn't really come close.
@Supernova247128 жыл бұрын
You obviously are NOT a surfer. The skill these guys are displaying are light-years ahead of the tow boys. ANYONE CAN GET TOWED INTO A WAVE
@wilsargisson11558 жыл бұрын
I agree that it's way harder to paddle in, and massive respect to these guys for doing it. But towing allows the surfer to be exactly where he needs to be to get the best barrel possible. I'd rather get a super deep giant barrel on a short board with tons of speed than barely scratch into the barrel on a giant canoe of a board that handles like the Queen Mary.
@justinwilliamson92278 жыл бұрын
+Michael Work I think compared to paddling (Regular surfing), tow-in surfing is a different sport altogether. In my opinion paddling into big waves takes more skill and bravery then towing in. But towing in allows better use of/access to big waves. Though I sure as hell wouldn't want anything to do with towing into waves like Ship-stern's or big Chopes.
@justinwil43658 жыл бұрын
+Michael Work I disagree, the technical ability to paddle into these waves is breathtaking. Don't get me wrong, tow in videos are my guilty pleasure but any one with experience in the waters gotta appreciate a proper paddle in. Plus, hypothetically speaking, all you need is a board to paddle into the wave. Makes it more of a level playing field and less of a rich mans sport.
