Nice comparison. I have the Series 1 Knack. The pattern is their logo repeated. Not saying I love it, just explaining it. Also, I think a lot of companies go with the sideways luggage passthrough because it's better if it's on a bigger bag. A vertical pass through wouldn't allow the handle on a larger bag to be grabbed easily. It is funny how so many bags are just missing that one thing that we thing would make it 100% awesome.

I was considering both of these and went with the peak design because I’m more of a pouch/packing cube person instead of a built in organizer like with the knack. I got the huckberry collaboration in coyote x-pac which kinda sealed the deal once I saw it because it’s so sharp. I also love the zippers and bought the rain fly separately just in case we go somewhere super rainy.

3:10 Thank you for this. Took advantage of Peak Design’s Black Friday sale and just ordered the 30L Midnight for $180(US). My main concern was how it would fit under an airplane seat.

@@gearbyorlaigh Thanks! Because of my location, I fly with mainly US airlines. This backpack seems to be taller than it would be allowed, but I've flown with similar sized backpacks with no issues.

Heading to Ireland/Scotland for 19 days in April. Seriously considering the Knack for my personal item on the plane, but don't know if I should get the small at 17" or the medium at 19". Do you have any advice? Thanks :)

Oh lovely! Depends really, with the one I have, I find works great as an everyday carry, plenty of space and then can expand it when need to! Just remember when using as personal item, it won’t fit under the seat in front of you on a flight when it is fully expanded. But if not fussed on that extra couple inches then opt for smaller one 😊 Also depending on what you are doing with the bag, for example if you are adventuring and looking to use this bag for exploring, it is GRAND but probably not the best adventurous backpack, more so a well organised backpack 🎒

How easy is it to access the back compartment of the peak design from the top? For example - you use it as daily carry and you want to get something from the mesh pockets in the back - is it possible to open the zippers half way and access them from the top, instead of laying it down and opening the full clamshell?

great question. So you do have range to stop the zips on each side and not have to fully open the clam shell opening and reach into the backpack from the top, from there you would have access to the pockets that are imbedded into the backpack. Agree on the ugly interior on the Knack. Near top of my list of why I would not get this bag.
