I had one of these with my Sony A7iii and for the most part loved it, as it's so much quicker than storing you camera everytime. Mine was a little finicky at times where it wouldn't slide on the clip and would get hung up. In addition to that I would recommend making sure the clip is tight each time each time you go out. On one occasion I found it lose when I went to clip the camera and almost dropped a few K worth of camera and lens because the clamping screws loosened. All this being said it didn't keep me from enjoying it and keeping it with me everytime I took my camera out.

That is a scary experience!

One thing I've found when travelling is that it will always be picked up by airport security, thinking it's a sort of cutting device or similar. Easily rectified with an explanation but no-one likes being held up by security

Oh yes, it does look a bit like a mini stanley knife

I am not convinced that the position of where it clips on works for me and always get in the way of removing the backpack and putting it down and still then to have to store away not to get the camera scratched or dirty. Might as well have a quick method to get it unpacked. If in use most of the time the supplied neck strap works out or replace that with a wrist strap.

@@geraldmcmullon2465 yup! Very valid point, it does interfere with taking the bag off.

Great review of the PD Clip sir! One question please...I have an arca-swiss L-bracket permanently used on my camera. Can I use the L-bracket with this clip, instead of the bracket it comes with? Thank you.

Thank you! Unfortunately I’m not sure, I’d recommend reaching out to Peak Design customer support - be sure to let us know what they say

Great point mentioning the strap size limitation!
@mrtavetski18592 жыл бұрын
Yeah I wish it had two sizes, so could put the clip on my EDC camera bag, but they do not. Hopefully they'll come up with a wider one in the future

I've had one for years, but not for my main camera. Surprised you guys didn't use it for GoPros! There's actually an attachment specifically for this. Great for walking through city streets and capturing local scenes on the low without the camera being a distraction.

I got the version 1 of this clip shortly after it came out (the one you reviewed is v3). Mine doesnt have the anti-slip rubber thingies, but it has never slipped. About to buy a v3 (because its said to be more comfortable and sooometimes the v1 that I have pokes my chest a bit, so I'll put the v1 onto the hip belt of my hiking bag, and the v3 (also looks cooler) onto my day bags straps). Also, its a lot easier to use for a right handed person if you have the camera on the left rather than the right edit: also also, the camera plate works pretty much all arca swiss tripods (which is most of them), not just the PeakDesgin ones ;)

I just looked up pictures of the v1 capture clip- that looks so pokey, all those rounded corners! I gotta say tho -you will definitely still notice the v3, its not that buttery

Everyone praises this like it’s gods work, but I’ve had many problems with it. Something which had really annoyed me with the PD camera clip is the fact the paint scratches extremely easy.
@mrtavetski18592 жыл бұрын
Now that i am looking at it, i do notice a few minor scratches, but as I'm not planning on ever selling it, i don't mind. Most of my gear has that "rat rod" look to it anyway.

You are attaching it to the wrong strap! It's meant to go on the left strap so that you can grab de camera with your right hand. As far as I know, cameras are only made for right-handed use.
@mrtavetski18592 жыл бұрын
Quite possible! I just put it on the right and was happy at that, didn't think it could be better on the other side lol
