I'm buying this strap coming saturday. Found your video really helpful. I will be using it with the capture clip V3. I shoot mostly street photography, events and stuff for my girlfriends Instagram. I was planning on having the strap attached when shooting, but when storing the camera I'll just wear the strap as a bracelet while the camera is secured in the capture clip.

A really good vid clip. Precise, calm and clear.

The only thing I don't like about this strap is that the anchor attachment system is rather bulky, and it can get in the way of gripping your camera properly. The camera you demonstrated it on has the anchor attached to a point at the bottom of the body, but if it is attached at the normal top strap mounting point, you will have the problem I just described. What I do is put my hand through the strap and then give it a twist so the anchor exits over the top of the hand. Ultimately, I switched to a less-bulky strap.

I have the "Clutch" on all of my cameras. The base plate fixes directly on my mono-and tripod. I use them quite a lot. I find the extra stabilization of the Clutch outweigh the slight bother it causes in handling the camera controls. That's why I have four of them.

Nice video and review. Would this be good to use with the new Canon R5 and RF Lenses? Would it be strong enough to hold their weight or would you recommend another wrist strap?
@ShaneBethlehem3 жыл бұрын
No problem thanks for watching! It definitely can hold the weight but it might not be terribly comfortable if you find yourself routinely suspending, it but in a pinch it'll very much so work. I don't really have another solution though besides a full-on camera strap because any single point of contact strap won't be super comfortable unless you opt for a hand grip/strap on the right side of the camera

I'm concerned that it wouldn't stay in the open position when in use, and that it would keep cinching down?

well it’s meant to cinch down for security… so you might want to look for a different strap

How thick is the loop that attaches to the camera? I have a Sony ZV-1 and am worried its too thick to fit the camera
@ShaneBethlehem3 жыл бұрын
Even on the a7 series I have a tricky time squeezing them in holes on the cam, it's doable but I use a paperclip to push then through. I don't know how large the holes on the Sony ZV-1 are in comparison, but I'd hope they are similar

The only thing I don’t like this strap is the metal hardware has sharp edge and will scratch my valuable camera, otherwise works as intended. PD Anchor Link is the best and you can add it on all universal wrist strap instead of buying PD wrist strap.

I'm late to the game. Just ordered two, one each color for two different cameras. I think for one handed street photography this would be great! Ha, if it breaks does Peak Design cover your camera ;)
@ShaneBethlehem2 жыл бұрын
Ha, well you can have a strap on either wrist! Def a great option for street photos, extremely discreet but still secure

The cord is too think to make it through the strap hole on my Fujifilm cameras. Can’t understand why they didn’t make it a tiny bit thinner.
@ShaneBethlehem2 жыл бұрын
Actually for a short while they made the cord smaller but they discontinued & replaced I presume due to backlash or durability issues. I have a few of the thin ones still and they are very handy. I totally hear you though, they are somewhat tricky on Sony cameras as well 😔
@tehMaloWalo2 жыл бұрын
if it was thinner people would complain it wears too quickly. y’all gotta pick your battles lol
@silas14142 жыл бұрын
You can use a triangle split ring. Peak Design now recommend split rings. I do this on the S5 which has tiny ant nostril sized holes.

I don’t like the metal “holder” …it’s fine when using the strap, but when stored while still attached to the camera I fear it will scratch my camera body or lens.

I returned the Peak Design. it gets too tight around the wrist, and it is not quick to loosen it up. I think it could be dangerous in some freak accident, if the camera gets stuck in some machinery or vehicle. if kept open it is too wide. the large metal keeper also could scratch the camera in a bag. Too bad as the clip system seems great. But given it is so expensive, it should not have these flaws. I tried the Smallrig version at BH photo in NYC. But the quick release clip can get undone too easily. So I bought the Megagear cotton wrist strap, that costs less than 30% of the Peak Design strap, it is way more comfortable. How loose or tight can be easily adjusted, unlike the Peak Design. It looks and feel good, the price is right too. It has no quick release, but i can make a loop with good bungee or dyneema cord.
@hukumongdu3 жыл бұрын
Do you find that the metal part scratches your camera body... in your bag?
@ShaneBethlehem3 жыл бұрын
I never had an issue with it scratching anything, the edges are all quite rounded on it so it never really has the opportunity to catch an edge on anything, plus if it's in my bag it's usually attached to the camera and isn't moving around. Hypothetically it's possible but it's not likely in my opinion considering I have had it for years now with no nicks, if anything the only thing that got scratched was the metal components of the cuff

"doesn't come in at a crazy price" Dude. It's $30 for a wrist strap lol. That's absolutely a crazy price point. Nonetheless, great video.
@ShaneBethlehem3 жыл бұрын
Fair enough, it's a rather subjective opinion. I'm considering that it's not crazy compared to other camera straps which run in the 15-40$ range, not 50+ like full on neck straps and such, I could have articulated myself better. Thank you though 😊

@@ShaneBethlehem Ironically I just bought it anyway. Your video convinced me 😂😂
@superspooky45802 жыл бұрын
Pay $10 for a strap that has no warranty and enjoy. Peak design makes pretty strong stuff so the $30 price point is fair because they will cover your camera if it does break. I about amazons Chinese clones can say the same

The "auto cinching" thing is Bee Ess. It will only "auto cinch" if your arm is straight out, parallel to the ground. Think it through, man. The cuff is more than good enough based on its other merits.
