Hey, I have a Sony a 73 and I'm using this lens for Iris photos. I'm having trouble not being able to get more of the iris in the frame and was wondering if it's because I'm using a 24 megapixel camera. I can't seem to zoom in super close like you did with the spider. What am I doing wrong?

I'm wanting to photograph 35mm negatives and I've purchased a negative holder with an LED backlight. My f/4 50mm Super Takumar macro lens produces a 6 megapixel image from a 24 megapixel sensor. My bellows extension with Pentax fitting 50mm lens goes too far and zooms in too much, so I don't get the whole frame. So this looks like a possible solution - although I see another rabbit hole with various permutations of extensions, adapters and clamps...

...THIS IS NOT A LENS BUT A RAYNOX PRE-LENS ONLY. HOW MANY LENSES ARE IT CONSISTED OF? DO YOU KNOW THAT? IF IT HAS ONE LENS THEN IT IS NOT COLOR CORRECTED. IS IT NOT ACHROMATE OR APOCHROMATE. THE PRICE IS VERY HIGH FOR A PRESCRIPTION LENS.....AREN'T YOU AN INFLUENCER BY HAPPEN??? YES YOU CONFIRMED IT HAS CHROMATIC ABERRATION,. OTHERWISE THANKS FOR THE VIDEO, YOU ARE CAREFUL AND PROVIDE CONSIDERED INFORMATION. THANK YOU

Great review! I never had peak design products. I guess people do prefer design over comfort or there is some magic into it Is it actually comfortable?! Did you tried pgytech? I am large and have 3 spinal surgeries. As I understand, The back and straps are not great. Seems the lens and other gear are cozy.

I am so glad I bought this lens, which stood on the shelf in the store for a long time as a sample. And in the end I bought it new for half the price. Great and very sharp lens, starting from f/1.4, I have been using it for several months and have not received a single blurry photo yet. And no chromatic aberrations or flare. Just test it in the store for as long as it takes to fully check the lens and buy when you are completely sure that this is what you need. And in general, worry less about all the little things, enjoy the process of shooting!

The problem with my current strap - also quality brand - is that it stains my light coloured shirts with a yellowish brown after a hot summer day shooting. Did you run into problems with this strap? Or have any preventive solution? People have talked about using a sealer for the side that rests on your body.
@ShaneBethlehem2 ай бұрын
I’ve had dirtier spots under the straps that I thought was from them, but I think it’s just dirt/debris from working outside in a white shirt. It’s never been an issue though and the shirts have cleaned well

Sorry to say this is incorrect information. Using the center of the lens does NOT degrade sharpness and is NOT the same as cropping an image as stated starting at 5:30. To the contrary, the sharpest area of virtually every lens is the center.

I bought this for my aps-c camera as my second macro lense. I'm completely new to macrophotography, but I wanted to capture pics of insects and other moving, live subjects. I initially used a 30mm macro, but I had to practically bump my lense into them before getting my maximum sized pics. Sony's 30mm macro was still great for things like flowers and bugs that don't run, but I immediately knew I needed to be able to be further back from my subject if I wanted to get lucky with more chances without scaring them away. So far I love this lense a lot. I've even used it for everyday stuff. Plus, I figure it's a lense that will still be relevant if I buy a full frame camera down the road.

I bought the Raynox DCR-250 and a 58 mm - 43 mm filter step-down adapter for my Tamron F004, 90 mm F/2.8 1:1 Macro. I thought this would be a good starting point, but I was wrong. I was able to achieve a magnification of plus 27% and of course sent everything back. The manufacturer speaks of plus 8 diopters, whatever he means by that. One thing I would like to try is a set of JJC AF macro extension rings set 12 mm 20 mm 36 mm for the Tamron Macro 1:1 on my Nikon D850. The manufacturers of such aids always assume 50 mm lenses without macro function.

so the dcr-250 was not worth it?

Just FYI you can buy the latches separately and swap them out for either the regular push button ones, or the ones with an integrated TSA approved lock.

A pair of auto extension tubes can often solve the close focus needs of most folks using the FE 200-600/5.6-6.3 lens...one can also use the older FE 70-200/4 for close focus work...Also I and many others do not like external protruding telephoto zooms i.e. (sony FE 100-400/4)...Dirt...moisture... and damage when protruded because of...tree limbs...plus...falling down..etc. By the way... the FE 200-600/5.6-6.3 lens is great for concerts...crowds...street..air shows...wildlife...boats...even apartment living...etc...Cheers

Just bought it and yes, I constantly have that nagging feeling like i should be using it more, or should i have just gone for the f4. But like you say, at the end of the day, it's amazing, and I am also really loving the 24mm on it, so it actually makes it a great street lens on holiday, weight aside. I think i was either going for the 16-35 GM and the 12-24 f4, or the 16-34 f4 and the 12-24 GM. I think I'm glad I went this way cause the 16-35 f4 is so tiny and useful, so it's all good.

Great video, i love the calm presentation. Have you tried stacking two raynox DCR-250s? I have one dcr 250 which I paired with sigma 105 macro on a sony a7rv to give a 2.68:1 ratio. Produces heavy vignette in FF mode, but can be cut out in post. And vignette goes away in crop sensor mode. I do want the option for a bit more magnification and thinking about getting a second DCR-250. Another option is the MSN-202, but I feel I may struggle with that much magnification and possible vignette on a full frame sensor

Thank you so much for presenting the information in a straight forward easy to understand manner. Oh, and I might be a new Peak Design customer in a few minutes. Where are you Amazon? 🙂

Hello Shane. I hope you see my comment and are able to respond. So I have a KZbin channel where most of my videos are of my ant colonies. I really dislike using my cell phone to record my videos. I own a Sony A7 II and I am willing to spend under $500 for a macro lens to record 1080P 60FPS video. Which lens to purchase though? lol Most guides I find are on macro photography and in my case, I am not looking to so much record a single insect, but a section of a nest of multiple insects. I was looking at the Venus Laowa 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5X Ultra Macro Lens or the Venus Laowa 90mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO Lens. I have a tripod. What are your thoughts?
