In this video I walk up to Gardom's Edge in the eastern Peak District to explore some historic sites. I visit a Standing Stone, Bronze Age Round Houses and an interesting Rock Carving that isn't what it first appears to be.... I then hang my DD Hammock for an overnight wild camp
10 points if you can guess the name of the song i've remixed :-)

Loving the videos. Kirk Yetholm is one of walking areas when over from peebles. The borders pub is a great stop for a pint. As you come off the last high ground near crows foot look out for a great hill fort spot.

Ginger - a new one - I was thrilled - you are looking at the top of your form and so healthy. I do worry about you getting cold though and your ears - you do wear some kind of hat I hope, at times so you don't freeze. Brilliant one for the start of this new year. So look forward to each and every one of your spectacular journeys. Thank you. Oh and I do often wonder about your boots. I am keen to know what you wear. Cheers Never stop what you are doing - so many of us live through you.

Was a teenager when Happy Hardcore was in its prime and our raving days began in 2001 when Hardcore came back... Scott Brown was my favourite DJ back then. Well done Deano bro great vid love the history facts. Just wondering have you ever gone military with any kit? the reason i ask is you mentioned your tarp leaking and not very camouflage for stealth camping i can vouch 1st hand for the Army basher, its very strong and waterproof also you said your sleeping bag isnt very efficient zub 0 I have a snugpak softy 9 used it in the Falklands and Norway great sack light warm n compact they do a softy 12 but its getting a bit on the bulky side, softy 9 can handle the most extreme of UK weather easily m8. Just wondering pal anyway i love your vids you know your stuff look foward to the next 1.

Never been up to Gardoms edge - it looked very interesting. Done all the things near there but never up to the edge it's self. You seemed to have had a good camp I'm hoping for some good weather next week as it's half term so time to do a spot of wild camping... As for the music, I have no clue what the original is!

How anyone can sleep comfortably in a hammock, is beyond me. They're certainly not designed with side sleepers in mind, that's for damn sure.
@dirtyronald
@dirtyronald 5 жыл бұрын
Martin Mac I think if you like sleeping on your back and you’re not a fidgeter and you have the correct sized hammock and you know how to set it up properly they are extremely comfortable. I however side sleep and fidget like crazy so what feels super comfortable, doesn’t quite quickly.
@DeanRead
@DeanRead 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Martin thanks for watching. I'm a side sleeper and I must admit I find them comfortable. This time I slept inside it so I could move around and not feel like I was going to flip upside down and land on the floor during the night. All the best, Dean.

Do you need to ask for permission to camp in the Peak District ?
@DeanRead
@DeanRead 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Eliot, the official answer would have to be yes as wild camping isn't technically allowed anywhere in the UK without permission apart from Scotland and Dartmoor. I always stick to the rules of 'leave no trace' and make sure I stay out of view and don't camp near roads or buildings. I definitely don't have fires either in places where I don't have permission to do so. I'm sure if you stuck to those principles you'll be fine to wild camp anywhere :-) All the best, Dean.
