I've spent the past 3 months dealing with my terminally ill father, who is thankfully now at peace having passed away this week. Watching your videos has been my source of comfort and given me great joy during an awful period. Thank you for posting. Hoping to get out on Kinder on the 27th for a day/night of reflection. Will raise a glass to my dad (McEwans Champion 7.3% naturally) Keep up the great work Steve, top man.

I'm so sorry to learn that Neil, you've certainly been through the mill recently mate. I lost my mother when I was in my early 20's, so I can kind of imagine how you must be feeling. Its nice to know that my videos may have taken your mind off things for a brief time. Have a peaceful, tranquil time up on Kinder Neil and what a great way to remember your Dad by raising a toast to him whilst you're up on a mountain.👍 Thanks for watching mate and all the best.🙂

Cheers Paul. That spot is nice. It doesn't have a long walk to get there, but the location is superb being next to a Stone Circe. I think that that was my first Fry-up of the year and it was also my best camping grub of the year. Thanks for watching mate.👍🙂

I was planning to go out this Saturday mate for the Solstice but the forecast is showing 54 mph gusts. So I think that I'll postpone until Monday which will still give me time to get it edited & uploaded before Christmas. I draw the line at wearing a silly Chrimbo hat (I may wear a festive jumper though, now that you've mentioned it).🙂 Thanks for watching mate and a Merry Christmas to you & yours.👍

@Hengists_Wild_Camps21 күн бұрын
Cheers Wolfie. For the little bit of extra weight involved, I should really take the frying pan out with me again. Eating any type of grub always tastes better to me when outdoors, but a fry-up is on another level. Thanks for watching mate.👍🙂

@Hengists_Wild_Camps21 күн бұрын
Cheers Helen. Like you've mentioned, the weather wasn't the best as far as panoramic views goes, but camping next to a Stone Circle has it's own charm when it comes to seeing it right outside of your tent. The beers, grub, company and laughs made for a great overnighter. Thanks for watching and for the comment.👍🙂

Another great video Steve, respect going out there in the wet and damp! Yeah I recognized that early part of the hike, as I tarp camped their in the summer, I'm sure you saw the video. Cheers Steve. Yes mate, I remember your video and it was a great bit of viewing. I'm hoping to get another camp in before Chrimbo, I'm currently looking at the 21st, it being the winter solstice and the shortest day of the year. I'm just stuck on deciding where to go, lol. Thanks for watching mate.👍🙂

Evening Reddy. It is a good job that the Cholesterol Police weren't wagging about on that camp 🍔
@Hengists_Wild_Camps21 күн бұрын
Morning John. I like to think that the Cholesterol is being pumped out of my veins, due to the exercise involved walking up a hill with a big weight on my back. I know that it probably doesn't work like that, but that's what I tell myself. Thanks for watching mate.👍🙂

loved this mate , the food looked awesome , makes me want to go out and buy some spam now , I like the versatility of your stove that simmering ring made a massive difference , I think if I ever do a camp at winter time I think I will invest in one of these , was it boggy where you camped as it sounded it as you were walking towards it ? Keep the videos coming mate 👍
@Hengists_Wild_Camps21 күн бұрын
Cheers Stuart. There's nowt like a fry-up mate. That was probably the best camping grub that I've had all year.🙂 Those Speedster stoves only cost a fiver (the last time I bought one, that is). I love how simple and primitive they are. They're also cheaper to run than gas and work when it's cold outside. Best of all, I like how silent they are when in use. The ground where we pitched was quite firm and not sodden at all. Although I have been there in the past and it has been a bit spongy which has forced me to pitch inside the circle, but it's a bit naughty doing that.🙂 Thanks for watching mate, and also, for the comment.👍
@GH02-o_o21 күн бұрын
top vid...possibly even the best one on youtube so far.. looks like tons of places to pitch up there, nice and flat..but a bit exposed? is it far enough off the path, away from vc?
@Hengists_Wild_Camps21 күн бұрын
Cheers mate. Possibly the best out of all the videos on KZbin (or just my videos)?🙂 It is a top location being right next to Stone Circle. It only takes a few minutes to walk there, but as you mentioned, there's no big rocks to use as shelter from the wind when pitching up, and because of that, it is quite exposed when its blowing a bit. I've camped there loads of times and I've never had a problem when it comes to seeing anybody else around there. Thanks for watching mate.👍🙂

Nice camp mate just shame you didnt get good views. What tent are you using and whats the weight of it? Cheers
@Hengists_Wild_Camps21 күн бұрын
Cheers mate. Yes it's a pity that there wasn't any grand panoramic views on this one, but seeing a Stone Circle directly outside of your tent was pretty neat. Also when sunset's at 3.47pm, there's not much to see in the dark anyway.🙂 The shelter that I was using is the Alpkit Tetri 2-p tent. Out of the box it weighs 3Kg, but I've reduced it's weight down to 2.61Kg, by leaving the porch footprint at home and taking the supplied pegs out of the equation (as I always use my own pegs). 2.61Kg isn't too bad (or so I tell myself) for a 2-p tent which is also a fairly robust shelter when it comes to wind conditions. Also, having that extra space inside is perfect for these long evenings and the porch size is very generous when it comes to cooking inside the tent. Thanks for watching mate.👍🙂
