Looked pretty chilly there Steve, great adventure. Thankyou for sharing the wild camp with us! Can't wait to have time to get out there again, after a long while.

Cheers Steve, that wind chill was indeed a bit on the nippy side. Thanks for watching mate and I'll look forward to seeing your next trip.👍🙂

Great video Steve …. champion has that effect on me too 😜
@Hengists_Wild_CampsАй бұрын
Cheers Rob. Dunno what was up with me on this trip? I didn't even finish my 3rd tin, and I even had a full tin leftover to carry back down the hill in the morning. That's totally out of character for me.🙂 Thanks for watching mate.👍

Yet another quality video, I retire in 6 weeks. I'm so looking forward to getting my walks and camping in, the Peak District and Derwent Valley are on my list. Keep the videos coming
@Hengists_Wild_CampsАй бұрын
Cheers Bill and welcome to the retirement club mate.🙂 Once you've quit the rat-race, you'll have all that time to explore and have mini-adventures (who says that blokes never grow up? lol). I know that we're all different, but for me, having all this freedom time was just what I needed. Looking back, I'd say that although I miss the regular income, my life is much more happier now. Thanks for watching mate.👍

Great one mate, love a moody weather solo camp. The cloud timelapse was magnificent.
@Hengists_Wild_CampsАй бұрын
Cheers Hardy. When I watched the timelapse back, I didn't realise how much the light levels dropped as the clouds darkened just before it threw it down. I'm glad that I captured it on camera, because as per usual, I don't plan anything. Thanks for watching mate.👍🙂

Nice one. That food list sounds like a decent camp breakfast to me.
@Hengists_Wild_CampsАй бұрын
Cheers Phillip. I'm always lugging food up, then carrying it back down because I can't be bothered to cook it. This occasion was worse due to the weight of it all in my rucksack. I was really looking forward to having a good old fry-up as well. As you mentioned, I could have had a really good breakfast instead, but I rarely eat breakfast, and it was a bit nippy that morning, so my mind was set on walking and warming up. Thanks for watching mate.👍🙂

That's a lovely little spot Steve, nice and quiet, away from any crowds. I've walked that way many a time heading over to Howden, but can't picture where that is 🤷♂. I'll have to hunt it out. Hilarious that you sparked out and didn't have dinner. 😂 Great video as always matey. 👍

Cheers Les. I think that the forecast wind chill temperatures on that night were -6'C. The gusts were supposed to die down just after sunset, but they were still raging and shaking my tent up to the point where I nodded off, which must have been around 7 o'clock. Thanks for watching mate.👍🙂

That was a moody Derwent Edge on the way to your pitch site, Steve. It's my favourite place in the Peaks. Tent looked solid again, mate 👍. No Michelin Stars for tea this time 🤣🤣. I bet it was nice having some sun on your face on the bimble back to your car. Loved it as usual Steve 👍👍
@Hengists_Wild_CampsАй бұрын
Cheers Paul. I haven't spent as nearly as much time, up the Derwent Valley way, as I'd like to this year. I do love the place. It's a pity that I never got around to cooking the grub. Once again, I hauled some food up with me, only to have to carry it back down the next day. I even had one can of beer left over, that's how bad it was lol. Thanks for watching mate.👍🙂
@CliffuckingBoothАй бұрын
Thanks for another lovely adventure! But no food this time? :O Looks like beer served as the main food source this time ;D
@Hengists_Wild_CampsАй бұрын
Lol mate. It was in the back of my mind that you would appreciate the cooking section (or fry-up in a frying pan), but alas, it wasn't to be. The only thing that all that food did was to keep me warm (extra weight wise) whilst I hauled the damn stuff up and back down the hill.🙂 Thanks for watching mate.👍

Yes I'm grateful that I wear glasses in the wind! Also cold makes me nose run but you don't need to know that haha. Long walk you did there, and hard work in that wind. Was your camp spot north of Back Tor?
@Hengists_Wild_CampsАй бұрын
Cheers Lesley, it's good to know that I'm not the only one affected by icy winds.🙂 The wind on the way up felt like 2 steps forward and 1 back, I was being blown about all over the place. If you take a butchers on the map, the campsite is basically at the top of Abbey Brook, so yes, it's north of Back Tor. Thanks for watching and for the comment.👍🙂

Great video again Steve, I wanted to see how the tent was in the night with the winds, did it hold up well?
@Hengists_Wild_CampsАй бұрын
Cheers Moz. I know that my Tetri isn't a £1000 quid Hille Soulo and it can't withstand 90mph gusts, but for the max conditions that I'm prepared to go out in (45-50mph gusts), it seems to stand up to the job remarkably well, plus I have all that extra space inside. I reckon that buying the Tetri during the summer sales was a good decision (it's unusual for me to plan ahead lol). Thanks for watching mate.👍🙂

Another simple enjoyable video Steve it must be the mcewans champion knocking you out , not camped Derwent side before
@Hengists_Wild_CampsАй бұрын
Cheers Neil. There are some lovely spots along the Derwent Valley to pitch up at, and they're fairly isolated with little chance of seeing anybody. It's unusual for me to fall asleep. Not only did I have to carry all the food back down with me, I even had one tin of beer leftover.🙂 Thanks for watching mate.👍

The tent looks great for bad weather, not at all flappy. Some brilliant shots on your walk back off the hill too ! Now, what was the food you took and didn't cook ? ?? Best wishes , Fraser 👍🏼🫡🇬🇧 P.s. you just talked about the food at end of your great film.
@Hengists_Wild_CampsАй бұрын
Cheers Fraser. I'm glad now that I bought that tent in the summer sale, as from what I've seen of it so far, it can handle the conditions that I'm prepared to go out camping in. It may not be able to handle 90mph gusts, but then again, I can't either.🙂 Thanks for watching mate.👍

Great vid that, can’t beat them Tetri’s in the wind. Did you collect water up on the tops or carry it up? Atb Justin
@Hengists_Wild_CampsАй бұрын
Cheers Justin. I have to admit that this trip was inspired by your recent video. I'm totally impressed with how well the Tetri performs in winds, and with that solid inner, it also a very warm tent. I went around the back of Back Tor and along Duke's Road, carrying my water up with me. I only took 1 litre with me (as I had beverages to quench my thirst and my food didn't need any water), so 1 litre was manageable weight wise. Thanks for watching mate.👍🙂
